    Default Our Iowa Caucus Speech

    “Honesty”. “Integrity”. “Consistency”. “Courage.”

How often have you been able to use those words to describe ANY national politician?

Ron Paul has been walking the walk for 30 years in congress; has NEVER voted for an unbalanced budget, a tax increase, a congressional pay raise, or to raise the debt ceiling.

He has been true to his oath of office to defend the Constitution, even when it could have cost him election, even when he stood alone in Congress.

Ron Paul has been fighting for limited, Constitutional government for decades. When Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum were still in high school; when Rick Perry was still a Democrat working for Al Gore; when Mitt Romney was still for gay marriage, abortion, and health care mandates; when Newt Gingrich was still being faithful to his first wife.

Ron Paul is a family man, married to the same woman for 54 years.
As an obstetrician he delivered over 4,000 babies, treated poor people for free and never took a dime from Medicaid.

As a veteran he served honorably during the Viet Nam war and is still dedicated to seeing that every veteran gets the honor and support they deserve.

As a congressman serving on the Foreign Affairs committee, he has shown that he understands the difference between “speak softly and carry a big stick” and going around the globe sticking your nose into every dog fight.

He understands “blowback”, the unintended consequences of secret, foreign operations. That’s why In 1997 Ron Paul could predict that U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East was going to make every American citizen a target for terrorists. He warned us again in 1998 and finally in June of 2001, just a couple of months before 9/11. No one in the government listened, and we are STILL paying the price.

Ron Paul is for a strong national defense. He isn’t going to waste our young men’s lives and our precious national resources policing the world for the U.N., nation-building and manning military bases in 130 different countries. That’s why he receives more donations from active military troops than all of the other candidates COMBINED. THEY want him for their Commander-in-Chief, and so should you.

Serving on the Financial Services committee in 2001 he predicted the housing bubble and the economic collapse. He told us what was going to happen and why SEVEN YEARS before the financial meltdown. No one listened, and we are STILL paying the price.

Ron Paul understands the economy. He is the father of the Tea Party. He understands the power of a free market and sound money. He is the only candidate who predicted this mess, and he is the only one who has the knowledge, courage and honesty to show us the way out.

He has put down in black and white EXACTLY how he would cut spending by one TRILLION dollars in the first year and balance the budget in three years.

The only thing the other candidates have given us is a lot of pretty talk and promises. If they don’t have the guts to show us their plans today, why should we trust them to to stand up to the lobbyists and pork barrel congressmen in Washington after they get elected?

Not only is he the best candidate, Ron Paul is the only one who WILL beat Obama in November.

Ron Paul gets far more votes from Independents and Democrats than any other GOP candidate. Heck, the other candidates won’t even be able to keep the Ron Paul REPUBLICAN votes.

And If you think we can beat Obama without those votes, you are kidding yourself.

No, if you want four more years of Obama, go ahead and nominate another John McCain; another Romney, Gingrich, Perry or Santorum; nominate another big government liberal with a candy-coating of conservative talking points.

But if we want to BEAT Obama, If we want to give America a REAL choice in November, a chance for REAL hope, REAL change, join me in supporting the only man who can do it, Ron Paul.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.C. S. Lewis

Excellent speech.. the only thing i woudl get rid of is the Blowback paragraph.. People there might easily misconstrue it into Paul blaming america for 9/11.. especially in a crowded noisy room...

Also, Remind them that Mccain won the nomination precisely because he could attract Dems and Independents. And also that crossover appeal is the perfect formula for working with a deadlocked congress..

    Excellent speech...

You know, when I saw that graphic in your speech -- something came to mind.
What's to keep Iowa-caucus-speechmakers from taking a graphic with them?
    Nothing?
Then how about taking something to stick on the wall or prop in front while making the speech.
Or even holding it up while you speak?
Most graphics are more memorable than words.

Haven't seen anyone doing that and just wondered if it would be possible/help

+1 for all speech makers and call from home people with ALL my reps

Speak the truth, even if your voice shakes.

That's a lot to say in 2 minutes...

    I'd cut this:
Ron Paul has been fighting for limited, Constitutional government for decades. When Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum were still in high school; when Rick Perry was still a Democrat working for Al Gore; when Mitt Romney was still for gay marriage, abortion, and health care mandates; when Newt Gingrich was still being faithful to his first wife.
    This,
He understands “blowback”, the unintended consequences of secret, foreign operations.
I would change to simply, "he seems to be the only one who understands that our over-grown government puts us in more danger with their foreign adventurism."
"And now that the legislators and do-gooders have so futilely inflicted so many systems upon society, may they finally end where they should have begun: May they reject all systems, and try liberty; for liberty is an acknowledgment of faith in God and His works." - Bastiat

"It is difficult to free fools from the chains they revere." - Voltaire

Yeah take out the other candidates part, especially the Gingrich thing. You'll lose any crossovers from his camp just for that.

Take out blowback, but say that big government, home or abroad, is a threat to our liberty and national security.
