COMMENTARY | As a Sioux City Republican, I had a unique view of the final GOP debate. While my friends and colleagues where across the street in the newly decorated convention center watching the debate live, I had agreed to pass on my ticket to provide commentary for the local press in the hotel ballroom. Like every other debate, I watched it on TV even though I was only 100 yards away. From that close range I could almost smell the fumes as Ron Paul proceeded to pour gasoline on himself as Bret Baier quizzed him over Iran. Then he lit his own match when he agreed that he was to the left of President Obama on foreign policy. And he went out of his way to repeatedly prove the point. I've never seen a candidate self immolate like that before. The smoke soon came wafting through the skyway between the auditorium and the press room.
