The Texas GOP just released their presidential candidate application to get on the primary ballot 2 days ago.

No presidential candidate has been confirmed yet (Romney, Giuliani, etc.), but alot of names are up for congress/senate/judges/sheriff/etc.

North Carolina's info couldn't be more vague. I'm going to call the board of elections tomorrow to see if it'll get me anywhere.

Kentucky has the matching funds law. So he should be on the primary ballot here.

At least I'm pretty sure thats what this means:

The State Board of Elections will convene in Frankfort on the second Tuesday in January preceding a presidential preference primary. At the meeting, the board will nominate as presidential preference primary candidates all candidates of the the political party for the office of President whom have qualified for matching federal campaign funds. Immediately upon completion of this requirement, the board will transmit a list of all the nominees selected to the Secretary of State and the names will also be released to the news media. (KRS 118.581)
In any case we are a late primary and the deadline isnt until Jan 29.

Kentucky and Ohio both require that the candidate apply for and be certified to be eligible to receive matching funds in order to utilize that exception. The RP campaign has not done so, and unless they do so in Ohio ASAP, they will have to collect thousands of signatures (those with a letter certifying eligibility for matching funds have 0 signatures to collect to get on the ballot in Ohio as a Republican candidate for president). Kentucky also has an exception for candidates already on the primary ballot in 20 or more states, which should cover RP.

Thanks for the clarification bbachtung. I've contacted the KY election committee
so I reckon I'll just stay in contact to ensure he get placed on the ballot.

PS Could someone concisely explain what Federal matching funds are exactly? Thanks.
