    Conservative Foreign Policy

We need to start using this term to describe Ron Paul's foreign policy. How can anyone deny this?

The word "conservative" means cautious, careful, humble, and prudent. Most Republicans apply this easily to domestic issues, and yet every other candidate on the stage has an extremely liberal foreign policy. If we can manage to remind the people what it means to be "conservative", we should win this issue once and for all. Despite what's happening in the primary, most of America wants a conservative foreign policy. It's a winning issue. Even George W. Bush won his first election speaking about a "humble" foreign policy.

A conservative foreign policy is what was outlined by our Founders. The Tea Party can get behind that. A conservative foreign policy goes to war very rarely and only after a constitutional declaration of war. A conservative foreign policy doesn't involve nation building. A conservative foreign policy doesn't give our tax money to dictators or any other countries. A conservative foreign policy is about open trade, but no entangling alliances.

Ron Paul is the only candidate who has a conservtive foreign policy. If you want a liberal foreign policy, why don't you just vote for Obama?

[America] goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She is the champion and vindicator only of her own. She will commend the general cause by the countenance of her voice, and the benignant sympathy of her example. She well knows that by once enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication, in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy, and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standard of freedom. - John Quincy Adams
Peace, commerce and honest friendship with all nations; entangling alliances with none. - Thomas Jefferson
'Tis our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world. - George Washington
(Maybe this is my attempt at being Frank Luntz, but phrases I like are: Ron Paul Republicans, Conservative Foreign Policy, Constitutional Conservative, Free Market Principles, and of course, President Ron Paul.)
"And now that the legislators and do-gooders have so futilely inflicted so many systems upon society, may they finally end where they should have begun: May they reject all systems, and try liberty; for liberty is an acknowledgment of faith in God and His works." - Bastiat

"It is difficult to free fools from the chains they revere." - Voltaire

The word conservative has been hijacked to mean bomb, invade and overthrow in the foreign policy arena. Doubt you can change that back before the election. Stick with non-interventionist.

    It's easy...

If Paul would say in the next debate, "I advocate a conservative foreign policy to match a conservative domestic policy. Republicans shouldn't accept any less. If you want all sorts of undeclared wars all over the world, you already have a liberal foreign policy in Obama! A conservative foreign policy means defending ourselves at home, trading with all other nations, and then staying out of their messes. A liberal foreign policy is the opposite of that and it's what the rest of these candidates are selling." If he says that, he hijacks the word right back.

The papers may pick up on Paul advocating a "conservative" foreign policy. And then we can win this thing. We can get the word back.
"And now that the legislators and do-gooders have so futilely inflicted so many systems upon society, may they finally end where they should have begun: May they reject all systems, and try liberty; for liberty is an acknowledgment of faith in God and His works." - Bastiat

Bump to re-claim the word "conservative" and restore it to it's original meaning. If we can do this - and since Ron Paul's the only one selling a conservative foreign policy - it should be a small step to get people who claim to be conservative on board.

It should be easier than getting the word "Liberal" back from the Socialist Democrats.

Exactly my point. They made "liberal" the exact opposite of what it means. We can't allow that to happen with "conservative".

It worked for me this weekend. It didn't make the guy I was talking to change his mind, but he certainly had to think about what it means to be a "conservative". I think the more we push this meme the better. If we can get Ron Paul to say it in a debate, he may make a lot of so-called conservatives rethink what the word means.

Correct, the current conservative foreign policy is to attack other nations before they can attack you and far too many Republicans have bought into this idea that Muslims are trying to conquer the world and convert all Americans at gunpoint to Islam.

Wrong. That is the "republican" foreign policy or the neocon foreign policy. It is most definitely NOT a conservative foreign policy. There is nothing conservative about that.

But that neocon foreign policy is the conservative foreign policy to most Americans, if we want to change this we will have to get more paleocons onto talk radio shows or form a paleocon version of Fox News.

Just reduce it to the definition of the word conservative. It means careful, and cautious. It means doing things the least invasive way.

When a doctor tells you he wants to take a conservative approach, does that mean he's going to dig into you and cut you into a million pieces? Of course not. We all know what a conservative approach means. People just need to be reminded that we have a candidate that wants to take a conservative approach to foreign policy. It's a winner! We can return this definition to our side so fast. This is not only possible, it's easy. How can anyone possibly deny Ron Paul's approach to foreign policy is the most conservative?! They can't. And since republicans like to refer to themselves as conservatives, we may gain some support.
