No....We put out press releases in AZ and held rallies. nothing. How can we fix it? Now that the media is paying a bit more attention, can we get it done?

Sematary- with all you got going on... I am truly touched you are thinking of little ol' me

Portland, LA and AZ definitely tried... as Hope says, "nothing". As we all know, with the press, "If it bleeds, it leads". Sorry but, I'm going to do my best to avoid that - lol

The sad fact is that the press seems intent on ignoring every positive story of RP that it can. I wonder that the only reason the 5th got so much play is because of the "Fawkes" connection. (which, of course, makes my original opinion, regarding using that date, to be ill considered). So, we can try to get press off this effort, but it is niether here, nor there, with me.

Myself, I could give 2... cowpies about the MS press. My experiances in the streets only confirms my contention that very few people (of all ages, colors, incomes) takes them seriously anyhow. They are seen as entertainment and guides for further study. The primary mode of good information on the street is word of mouth. The internet is where people then go for further study.

This is why the original plan was to do this on electric bikes and why the effort is titled "Crossing America for a Sustainable Future" That would have been something the media would have had a hard time ignoring and the dual purpose would have allowed the "confusion factor" to have come into play. Unfortunately, due to a lack of initial interest, I had to drop that plan and am now just pedaling, like hundreds have before me. Since I am niether fat, nor an ex-addict, nor a transexual seeking equal rights, the media has every excuse to ignore this. Sad, but true...

i just heard of micheal and his ride to DC........

and the action for ron paul group in houston had never heard of micheal either.
but i did send him a link and encouragement to get houston involved in this!!!!

that's the problem- every meetup group along the way in every small town needs to be notified- it is as easy as that. the hard part is having the time to do that.....

i am trying to organize a ride from the outskirts of beaumont (ford park arena) right to the dang news studio....... i have the biggest bike shop working with me on this... more to come in a couple of days....

i will get it on TV!!!!!

my real dream is to find others who will finish the ride with him to DC

This is great! Finally getting some press attention that will help spread the word of the good doctor.

Michael - hope you can keep on doing without help from your webmistress for a while, I just found out one of my RAM sticks is dead the other is failing fast. Since I don't have any spare RAM laying around and can't just go out and buy new ones with no money to spend, this computer will have to be down for a week or so while I send the defective sticks to California and wait for them to send replacements. You can still reach me by phone if something urgent comes up, and I can try to handle things on one of the two computers at the public library (if I can get on one of them - they often have a long waiting list).

ORANGE - It's not difficult to guess who Michael Maresco supports for the next president of the United States.

Stickers and signs carrying the name of U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Lake Jackson, are plastered all over his bike. He's wearing a Ron Paul T-shirt and hat on his ride from California to Washington, D.C., and has handouts and other literature readily available. Paul even rode with Maresco during his pass through Lake Jackson last weekend. MULTIMEDIA Interview with supporter riding a bicycle to bring awareness of Ron Paul campaign
MORE ON THE NET Ron Paul Riders
Maresco may be the first to come through Southeast Texas and campaign for a presidential candidate, but he hopes he won't be the last before the primary election in March.
"I want to remind people of their civic responsibility," Maresco said, adding that unless used, individual liberties likely will be lost.
    ...
    Maresco's ride
Maresco, 45, of Hawaii has had 50 flat tires, worn out one pair of gloves and stays with supporters or in inexpensive roadside motels, but rides because he couldn't rest after he found out about Paul's candidacy.
"He is my candidate because he is consistent," Maresco said while local supporters, largely from grassroots organizations, waved signs at passing motorists at 16th Street and the Interstate 10 overpass on Wednesday. Maresco added that Paul's past votes in Congress, integrity and "making sense" garnered his support.
"What is important is what we leave for our children," Maresco said. "We demand for people to uphold the oath of office." ...

HOUMA -- He is a man on a mission, wiry, weather-beaten and tanned from riding hundreds of miles through sun-baked desert.

Mike Maresco, a 45-year-old artist and lighting technician, left the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles Oct. 21 on a 14-speed Schwinn bicycle.

He rides for GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul, and his goal is to make it to the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C., by Christmas.

"I stop in every little town I go through," Maresco said. "I’m not affiliated with the campaign. … I just decided to do it."

More than halfway through his trip, Maresco has been embraced, sheltered and fed by supporters of Paul, a Texas congressman whose anti-war, pro-life campaign takes a radically conservative stance on taxes, national debt and big government.

Seen as outside the Republican establishment, Paul’s campaign and fund-raising have been largely driven by industrious groups of thousands of local supporters across the country who form "meet-up groups" that link with each other over the Internet.

Local Ron Paul supporters hosted a dinner for Maresco Saturday night at the Coffee Zone in Houma, where the bearded bicyclist told harrowing tales of Louisiana’s highways, including a brush with a sugar-cane truck that forced him into a ditch.

"I got five flat tires riding on U.S. 90 in Lafayette," Maresco said.

"We try to make up for our roads with our hospitality," countered James Hitt, a Houma Ron Paul devotee who offered to put Maresco up for the night.

Maresco, an upstate New York native who lives in Kawaii, Hawaii, said he launched his cross-country odyssey after he grew impatient with complaints from his local meet-up group, specifically that national news media outlets have been ignoring or marginalizing Paul. Big media, he reasoned, didn’t necessarily need to enter into the equation.

Maresco bought a $250 bicycle, attached a small trailer with clothes, computer and campaign literature and hit the road, stopping as went to get out Paul’s name and message to whoever he met along the way.

"I’m sick of the endless war and the endless debt," Maresco said. Paul, also a doctor, has called to bring U.S. troops home from Iraq immediately and end American reliance on foreign creditors to finance the country’s $9 trillion debt.

Maresco said he has met like-minded Americans across his journey, part of which involves giving interviews to local media to further raise Paul’s profile.

"People deserve to know this man has the support he has," Maresco said of Paul, who has raised unprecedented millions on the Internet. "If we elect this man, we will regain our freedom, peace and prosperity."

No cars or mobile homes travel with Maresco ó he counts on his tent and the hospitality of fellow supporters for lodging.

He averages about 60 miles a day.

"I just pedal … just all by myself," he said.

Thanks !!! Actually, I've always had an e-bike dealer/sponser who has been ready to set me up anytime I've wanted. What I needed was a "chase" vehicle, since no-one was able to, I've just had to pedal... Now, that I have pedaled this far, I'm over it and will just finish what I've started.

What I hope for though, (now that people know that I was not kidding when I was in Hawaii planning this), is to do the e-bike trip in the spring from the Statue of Liberty to the Golden Gate Bridge. While the e-bikes are getting more efficient every day, the vastness of this country require a "chuck-wagon/charging center" chase vehicle to do it right. I am hoping for more internet/overall support for that trip. We'll see...

Again, thanks for the generous and kind offer

    busy, busy.
