Thread: Reading list for Austrian Economics?

Default Reading list for Austrian Economics?

I'm interested in learning more about Austrian economics, but economics is one of those subjects that can just be painfully boring to some of us. Can anyone recommend any good books on it that are enjoyable to read?

Economics for Real People - excellent overview/introduction
Man, Economy, and State - Comprehensive treatise, long, but thorough. Written as an "introduction". Step by step. Assumes no prior knowledge. EXCELLENT!!

Note: Economics does not have to painful, or require a university degree in mathematics! Austrian economics is bears little resemblance to the econ taught in schools. You may be surprised how "easy" it is.

"It is no crime to be ignorant of economics, which is, after all, a specialized discipline and one that most people consider to be a 'dismal science.' But it is totally irresponsible to have a loud and vociferous opinion on economic subjects while remaining in this state of ignorance." - Murray N. Rothbard

Economics in one Lesson by Henry Hazlitt is a good introduction to free-markets.

Start with some of the links in my signature, and then start with anything by Mises, Hayek, et al. Mises.org has an Austrian economics study guide on their site.

FEE.org has a good selection of stuff as well. CEI and Cato too.

"This political train-wreck Republicans face can largely be traced to Bush’s philosophical metamorphosis from a traditional, non-interventionist conservative to the neoconservatives’ exemplar of a 'War President', and his positioning of the Republicans as the 'War Party'."

No cash required! The Mises Institute as TONS of literature for FREE! I'm not talking articles, but full length BOOKS! Everything from very easy intro stuff, to the hardcore academic literature. Have fun. Take your time though and start with the basics!

perhaps controversial here but this is definitely one of my favorites and not very long:

A Theory of Socialism and Capitalism by Hans-Hermann Hoppe. Brilliant!!
