Thread: How Ron Paul Wins the Nomination (full nomination schedule, delegate #'s, and analysis)

  1. #61
I will do whatever I need to be an Ohio delegate, but I can't find the info. I've read some sites and what not, but none of them actually say what steps I need to take. Anyone?

Same, hopefully. Last time around I lost by only a couple hundred votes. If the local Ron Paul groups decide I'm a good person to run again I'm going to put much more into it this time around.

Do you know when the 3-week petitioning window is again? I think in 2008 it was at the end of January but I can't remember for sure.

    Hi 1836,

I don't usually do this but I thought it was important. So published your document as a blog entry with credit to 1836, I can put your real name on there if need be. There is a tweet button attached to the blog and a link back to this thread. I also cleaned up the table for easier reading.

Take care and if you want me to take it down let me know.

Pennsylvania allocates its 72 as follows: (numbers are from 2008)

59 congressional district delegates are directly elected by primary voters.
54 delegates: 18 Congressional Districts × 3? delegates per district.
5 delegates: The bonus delegates are allocated to those congressional districts that have best supported GOP candidates over the last four years per Rule 8.2. Each of those districts receives 1 extra delegate.
10 at-large delegates are selected by members of the Republican State Committee of Pennsylvania per Rule 8.3.
3 party leader delegates (the National Committeeman, the National Committeewoman, and the chairman of the Pennsylvania's Republican Party) will attend the convention by virtue of their position.

All 72 of the Commonwealth's district delegates will go to the Republican National Convention officially 'Unpledged'.

looks like the person who was providing us with louisiana info was banned.
    must not have been important.

    From Salon:

    h ttp://www.salon.com/2011/11/23/the_gop_needs_a_brokered_convention/singleton/

    Excerpt:

"The GOP needs a brokered convention"

New rules mean Romney's rivals can save the party from an unpopular nominee

"[...] Ron Paul, for instance, is often overlooked by the media as a factor because his ceiling of support in the polls appears to be between 10 and 15 percent. But since his floor of support isn’t far below that, he will be able to pick up a chunk of delegates who won’t be available to Romney. The same will be true for Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry if they stay in the race — and the latter has plenty of cash still on hand. [...]

[...]The GOP leadership and the rank and file would have the opportunity to nominate a compromise candidate who hasn’t been in the race at all: John Thune, Chris Christie or Jeb Bush, someone who can cite Romney’s unpopularity and moderate record as the basis for breaking their previous vows not to run. Suddenly, the Democrats would face a fresh conservative face who would receive just two months of scrutiny before Election Day.

And running against a president saddled with mediocre approval ratings, whose reelection prospects seem largely buoyed by his uninspired opponents, the Republicans would go into the general election with a sense of dynamism, not disappointment. A brokered convention in Tampa is shaping up the GOP’s best-case scenario."

This is a great thread. It will be hard, but not impossible. We have a long path ahead of us, and we need to get to work.

The first procedural step towards the presidency is to secure enough Delegates at Caucus to become the majority at all the state conventions. Primary states still need Delegates too. The numbers are looking good, and we are making great strides to winning the election. We're about to break 1500 friends on the Facebook page, and 20,000 views on the Delegates Training Page. But we can still do better! (and we need to do better)

The quick and easy way you can help Ron secure the Delegate count is to broadcast this quote on your Facebook and social networks this message,

You Can Help Ron Paul Win! Secure Enough Delegates, and Secure Liberty for Generations to Come! Become a Delegate for Ron Paul!" Share this link with all your Friends on Facebook and Social Networks! - http://ronpauldelegates.wordpress.com/

Props to 1836 with this post on our forums this is exactly the type of information we need to broadcast to every Ron Paul supporter.
