Found out today the Caucus is on Saturday tomorrow. Three voters for Ron Paul in our family and we CANNOT attend. Why because it is on Saturday our Sabbath. Called the GOP in Spokane and could not get through. Called the Secretary of state and was informed of the State GOP office number and they Sec of State office agreed that holding it on Saturday does violate 1st amendment constitutional rights for those of us who observe Friday to Saturday Sundown. I called the GOP number in Bellevue and a woman there talked to me and became very rude. Stating we KNOW you JEWS have an issue but the Majority of the people observe Sunday so we are having it Saturday. I quoted the first part of the US constitutional amendment to her. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. The First Amendment provision that prohibits the federal and state governments from establishing an official religion, or from favoring or disfavoring one view of religion over another. I informed her I am not a Jew nor an Adventist. She said whatever we decided on Saturday because the Majority of the People observe Sunday. I said then choose another day of the week. She said Saturday is the most convenient for the Majority and so to we "Jews" are over-ruled. I told her it was unconstitutional and asked if we could have a proxy vote tomorrow she said ONLY if the person standing in proxy knows you well. There is no one attending that knows us that well. I said that violates our rights as registered voters. She got really rude and said deal with it and hung up. I then proceeded to contact both Cathy McMorris Rodgers office and Marie Cantwell and was told by both that they would indeed be looking into this because it does violate the 1st Amendment rights if there are people who observe a different day than Sunday and cannot attend due to religious reasons and it is NOT the same as being over seas in the Military. The GOP and DEM are political government parties and as such must accomodate all voters and voters rights and uphold their religious beliefs. The Congress woman's office said it is true people could indeed hold the cacaus on a weekday or evening. So we are not going to be able to cast our vote for Ron Paul tomorrow and that is totally unfair and illegal. Just wanted Supporters to know.
