Yes, that was my point. The US interfered in Israeli affairs.

    My original post..

"The first time the US got involved in Israeli affairs, it was the Suez Crisis. The UK, due to backing down, gave up all power in the Middle East.. "

The UK along with Israel and France backed down. Now the US handles British oil interests.

What is a "legal" nation? Mahmound Abbas recently submitted a formal bid to the U.N. for Palestinian statehood. Palestinians have no more right to "statehood" as do the Israelis (in your opinion) and if granted, this would also be an "illegal" nation. Palestine was a creation of the League of Nations, so likewise was "illegal". Syria and Jordan might logically have "legal" claims to the land, but actually this area was part of the Ottoman Empire, so Turkey probably has the strongest "legal" claim.

All this quagmire in the Middle East because people believe an invisible man in the sky had his disciples write a book where it said the area now know as "Israel" must be cleared of all non-Jews so this invisible man in the sky's son will come back for the second time.

Hope they're right for their sake. Hate to be a part of the deadliest fairytale in history.

Israel is a socialist nation and we give them endless line of credit. I think we should be straight forward and blunt about this fact. How can the GOP oppose socialized healthcare yet advocate foreign nation welfare(hardcore socialism)?

Benefits to Israel of U.S. Aid
    Since 1949 (As of November 1, 1997) <NOTICE this was to 1997.
Cost to U.S. Taxpayers of U.S.
    Aid to Israel

There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
    (Galatians 3:28-29)

Using Genesis 12 to justify support for the modern day political nation of Israel clearly contradicts this teaching. What causes modern-day Christians to support Israel is NOT biblical teaching like this, but their interpretation of end-time events where they insist that Christ will return to Jerusalem to setup a 1000 year rule. But this is just one interpretation plausible, and historically was not even the majority view of church.

Also, not all Palestinians are Muslims. There are also many Palestinian Christians, and thousands of them lost their land and homes also. Taking sides for religious reasons just doesn't make any sense at all.
    Thank you. GREAT points.

There are good passages which show that the land promise of Genesis 12 has also now been fulfilled and replaced with a "heavenly" Zion and Jerusalem:

But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God....
    (Hebrews 12:22)

But the Jerusalem that is above is free...
    (Galatians 4:26)

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.
