    Official moneybomb feedback thread

I'd like to create this thread in order to avoid charges that I have not been addressing the "grassroots" about this moneybomb. In actuality, I've read nearly every post in this section, and have read every email sent to me, (which was around two I believe). I've attempted to respond to each concern by resolving the issue addressed by the user, but usually have not posted here stating such, so I guess there was confusion.

But this thread will serve as feedback for suggestions for the moneybomb, website, or whatever else.
"We have nothing to fear except our own unwillingness to defend what is naturally ours, our God-given rights. We have nothing to fear that should cause us to forget or relinquish our rights as free men and women. To thrive, we must believe in ourselves again, and we must never, never trade our liberty for any fleeting promise of security." - Rand Paul

The banners and widgets really need to say Ron Paul. Many people may not recognize Ron Paul's military photo.

    Done.

It appeared as though for Black This Out, the moneybomb supporters were split between a Facebook event that was heavily promoted and the BlackThisOut.com website which had email pledges. But how effective are Facebook events really for promoting something like these moneybombs? If emails cannot go out to everyone enrolled in the Facebook event, then the whole point of assembling a Facebook event is lost.

A Facebook event has already been formed for this moneybomb, and people are enrolling in it. How can we make sure that emails will go out to all those people? I just don't think we can count on Facebook attendance for gauging the performance of a moneybomb. Maybe the pledge website should be promoted within the Facebook event?

Maybe I'm totally wrong in thinking that Facebook event attendance didn't materialize, but I have to say I'm skeptical about it. Any other thoughts on this?

ee what I'm saying? The website needs serious work.

This "support the troops" theme is going to be a hard enough sell, without the obstacles of an old-school website. Just saying. We need to make it look a little more 21st century.

  7. #6
Is "Support Them Now" theme set in stone at this point?

  8. #7
"Support Them Now" doesn't work, and doesn't make sense as the name. Donations aren't going to the troops, they're going to the Ron Paul campaign. "Veterans' Day Moneybomb" would be better. "Bring Them Home" would appeal better to Ron Paul supporters.

And the website should ask for $100 pledges. That's what the 5th of November site asked for in 2007.
Rand Paul is in the top 1% of US Senators.

I agree and wrote pretty much the same in the other thread on this sub-forum.

I also propose naming the moneybomb the "Veterans' Best Friend Moneybomb" perhaps. It has more of a ring to it and a definite MEANING - no ambiguity.

the widget at the top of the forums doesn't have ron's name on it.

i understand the desire to sound like a mainstream republican and use the "support them now" rhetoric but i don't think it's going to draw in ron paul supporters' cash.

either more neutral "veteran's day moneybomb" or more ron like "just come home."

if our goal is to fire up the grassroots to donate, i would go with "just come home".

Maybe, Support THEM by supporting HIM.

    Just a suggestion.

I cannot relate to Ron Paul supporters who would not donate based on the theme. Does this really exist? All we need is a few bucks from everyone who is rabid... that's alot of people these days.

I say the main obstacle is communicating the date to all the existing support. The second obstacle is communicating the philosophy of donating as much as possible as early as possible, as opposed to waiting for the 'big' moneybomb when it's too late to be as effective.
I'm a moderator, and I'm glad to help. But I'm an individual -- my words come from me. Any idiocy within should reflect on me, not Ron Paul, and not Ron Paul Forums.

    Support Them Now!

    How do we support them?

Donate to Ron Paul so he can bring the troops home.

<shows graph of active military donations>

Supporting the troops needs to be defined.

  15. #13
A clearer message of who is supported and how would be nice. As would an actual picture of a modern soldier with darker color tones for the website. Then you can use the R3VOLution logo.

"Bring The Troops Home" Moneybomb sounds better to me than "Support Them Now".

It is way too late to change the name.

  18. #16
I believe we are stuck with the name guys but I don't think it matters. We could call it anything, Ron Paul supporters will show up as long as we are all pointing to the same thing. If you don't like the Support them Now catch phrase, use your own catch phrase and send people to the site anyway. Its only important to tell everyone that its a Vets Day Money Bomb For Ron Paul..... period. Name is not the primary concern, promotion is.

Great job and great theme, I have one thing to add and one thing to change.

    1. I just put your banner on my blog, I like how you can pledge right on the banner but for those looking for more information the entire background of the banner should be clickable. It should take you back to the website.

    2. we need a gimmick for our avatars like the censored "black out" bars. Maybe a little yellow ribbon that people can put in the corner of their avatars?

  21. #18
Here's a few images I whipped up for people to use.

    transparent background

Transparent one that you can put over your old avatar

    edit

heres the original ribbon I used, it has a transparent background

Why don't you make a post in the main moneybomb thread or a separate thread? People may not see these here.

    danbeaulieu:

Perhaps you can incorporate the following idea into your work WITH the ribbon, a different kind of ribbon idea follows:

The success of BTO lies in the interaction of the pledging participants.

People putting "Blackout" over their eyes created a strong interactive metric. They were able to APPEAR in the promotional photo and this digs straight to the core of the ego, they love it.

I suggest continuing the BTO profile picture implementation by putting a "Military Record Ribbon" like one of these:

over the eyes of the person's profile picture.

"We are blinded by the military"

"We are blacked out by the military"

And where does all the money and the pressure for Mass Media to "Black Ron Paul Out" really come from?

The Military Industrial "Complex", they are terrified, and rightly so, that Ron Paul would yank their honeypot out from under them.

Why is the pledge count still so low? There are more attending the facebook events than the official pledges, can't we get that number over a few thousand just on these forums?

  30. #26
I don't think there was as much promotion for it this time around.

  31. #27
Too bad I've been promoting my heart out. As a former Marine this one is really important to me.

Did we ever get any promotional videos for this one?

  32. #28
Our video people seem to be sitting this one out.

  33. #29
It's going to be a LOOOOOONG weekend ... we have an entire week to promote. And I am of the thinking that the closer the promotion is ramped up to the MoneyBomb, the more present it will be in people's awareness.

    Post

BRING BACK THE CHARTS and show where we need to be throughout the day to meet a record setting moneybomb.
    http://paulcash.slact.net/December-16th/
Pay that guy if you have to, but get him back on board and making the charts.

STOP ASKING FOR $20. Don't ask for less than $100 but have an "other" option. People will put in $20, but it needs to be clear that for at least one moneybomb everyone needs to be "all in".

SEND A BUMPER STICKER TO EVERYONE WHO DONATES. Send 40,000+ bumper stickers out across the US and make it clear that there are a LOT of Paul supporters out there.

GET MEDIA PERSONALITIES (AND PAUL) TO TALK ABOUT THE MONEYBOMB. I've seen loads of interviews with Paul where he doesn't mention an upcoming moneybomb. Is there a veterans (or active duty) organization that will endorse it and send a representative around to the talk shows and news outlets to talk about it?
