Ron Paul to hold expensive dinner in NYC

Ron Paul is raising money in New York City next week, with a $500-a-head fundraiser at the Union League Club on Monday, with two hosts who are in the financial services sector, according to this invitation.

It's another example of the ways in which Paul - despite his own tendencies toward bombast and statements that earn him headlines - is running a different type of campaign than his 2008 cycle effort, one that is more polished and professionally done.

Damn!, $500 dollar dinner. The campaign had come a long way since 2008!

They did this last campaign, too. I went to a hundred dollar a person one, but they had 500 dollar ones.

Very nice, glad to see them doing this. This will help shore up our Q3 totals.

I hope they can raise a couple mill through traditional tactics to combine with our big $$ online ways and we'll have a massive quarter.

In 2008, in Chicago, the cost for the private event was $1,000.

He needs to do a Super PAC dinner. According to the FEC, candidates can speak at Super PAC events as long as they themselves do not solicit contributions over a certain amount to the Super PAC. That job can be left to other speakers.

That's what Mitt Romney did. He raised huge amounts that way. The RevPAC would need to get in touch with wealthy people (which they are in the process of doing), and arrange the same thing Romney did. I'm sure that would encourage them to donate big
