Gingrich: "History will recognize Ron Paul" as "first serious national leader" on Fed

    newtgingrich Newt Gingrich
@ @David_Kretzmann there is no question ron paul was the first serious national leader to take on federal reserve history will recognize him

David Kretzmann is the guy who co-produced the "one-minute for Ron Paul" video, and Gingrich just tweeted the above response to him. Thought I'd share. I think when it is all said and done twenty years from now, there will be a lot of young people who frequented this forum that will play a major role in politics.

Edited to add: This was the initial tweet sent to Gingrich - David_Kretzmann
David Kretzmann @newtgingrich Do you give Ron Paul credit for being the only candidate in 2008 to mention the Fed? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igfw25aOeBU

.... in his heart, and in his head, in his character, and in his intellect, in what he has done, and in what he will become, the Thomas Jefferson of our day, Ron Paul is one of us.

    Ok now back to reality...

newt often doesn't hand out praise aimlessly and unexpectedly. he's mulling something over...

But of course Wolf Blitzer wouldnt ask him about the Fed during the debate.....how could a guy who's championed the cause for 20+ years, written a new york times bestseller, and first brought up the idea in debates, be expected to know anything.

    Lets just ask Michelle Bachmann

That, along with the income tax question (How much of every dollar I make should I be allowed to keep?), was $#@!ing ridiculous. How the hell can Blitzer call himself a fair moderator after that?

    Flashback

Gingrich on Ron Paul a few months ago:

And let me say in this regard that there is no elected official who has done a greater job of bringing to public attention the very serious problems raised by the operations of the Federal Reserve than Texas Congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul.

We all owe him a debt of gratitude for focusing our attention on the very real erosion of American freedom and prosperity caused by the actions of the Federal Reserve.

    What about Jefferson and Jackson?

Newt is no dummy, and I gotta say it was a savvy move. He's obviously pandering to Paul supporters and we'd be smart to keep an eye on him. He's rising in some polls and is quite adept at playing politics as we've all witnessed in the debates.

The man is a genius. Unfortunately he also has an awful record and would destroy the country.

Now, if only more than 10% of his followers were real people, this would help a little ..

Mandate Gingrich is banking on Ron losing and bleeding supporters. He is already using some of Ron's talking points so this is a smart move to pickup some of our ignorant supporters.

    Good show!
http://glenbradley.net/share/aleksan...nitsyn_4-t.gif “And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” ― Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

I told my sons twenty or thirty years from now people will talk about Ron Paul Republicans the way we calk about Goldwater Republicans now. If we are not living in a complete 1984 society, I have no question that he will be regarded as one of the most important political figures of the last century.

That's the problem. For many of us, it's 1776 or 1984. And if Ron Paul doesn't win, I daresay he eventually gets erased from the history books as we descend into further madness as a totalarian society. Sure, people would still whisper his name amongst themselves (the ones still awake), but over time and generations, he'd basically become some bastardized mix of Guy Fawkes and Emmanuel Goldstein. How depressing.
