The safety of Greek bonds is so low, that investors are demanding MASSIVE interest (yield) in order to lend their money to the Greek Govt.
Would you lend Greece at 8%? Probably not. Would lend to Greece at 75% interest? Probably not, but you are much more likely to do so then at 8%.
There are a lot of good equities that are trouncing the 10 year as far as yield is concerned
Conoco Phillips (oil) 4.1%
Phillip Morris International (cigarettes sold outside of north america) 3.9%
Altria ( cigs sold to north america) 6.20%
Coke (sugar water) 2.7%
McDonalds (sugar water and "food") 2.9%
KMP (natural gas pipeline MLP ) 6.7%
Target Corporation (retail) 2.4%
All very wide moat businesses with effective business models
