Let's push RP to #1 on Amazon

    http://www.amazon.com/Foreign-Policy...3945984&sr=1-1

I'm buying one! Currently at 342 in the Amazon rankings... up from 400-something the other day before Leno.

    This is actually possible...

    Buy away, everyone!

Much as I like the book (i've bought two copies), I think we need to be realistic.

#1 on Amazon requires quite a few people to purchase the book. It's a big number. Definitely more than three.

Is there a more reachable goal we could set?

If you're going to buy the book, buy it from the campaign store.

    Interesting stats:

    #2 in Books > Business & Investing > Economics > Economic Policy & Development
    #2 in Books > Nonfiction > Government
    #16 in Books > Professional & Technical > Accounting & Finance

No, it's better to buy it from Amazon and donate to the campaign. Amazon won't track books sold through the campaign's store.

Where do you think the revenues from buying the book from the campaign store go? To the campaign, of course. I think it's better to give more money directly to the campaign and get the book than to give a smaller amount of money to the campaign (and that's assuming people also donate) and give the rest to Amazon for the book. Sure if you buy the book from the campaign store Amazon won't track it, but is it really worth it to give less money to the campaign just to have a shot at making the sales totals of the book go up on Amazon? Will it really make a difference? Will anyone, particularly the media, even take notice? Maybe if we really gave it a huge boost, but as someone else pointed out in this thread, that's a tall order to fill because of the huge number of people buying the book that would be required to give it such a boost and we need to be realistic about that.

We'll get more publicity for the campaign if we push it up the Amazon sales charts which will likely generate more money for the campaign than would us buying it directly from the campaign.

Even if we crack the top 100, that is press release worthy.

Featured placement on Amazon (eg the bestseller list) is better than press. The Amazon audience is enormous, and readers tend to be voters. Buy the book from Amazon. Buy a copy for your local library. Review the book on Amazon.

I'm a frequent book shopper. I browse the Amazon bestseller lists all the time.

You can donate to the campaign separately.

    Yes.

Because the book is only $13.57 on Amazon, I can buy a few (as early Christmas gifts or whatever) to give out to my friends. This helps to get Paul's name out in at least two and probably three ways:

    1. My friends get to know more about him.
    2. Amazon readers will find out about him.
    2. There's a very good chance that there will be more media attention given to him because of the sales.

Gingrich’s book is #151 in books. My guess is if we pass him there, that will put Paul’s book in the top spot in the Government category (Right now he’s #2 behind Gingrich).

Buying items from the campaign office is a nice way to get around the donation limits.

Don't be silly. The publicity alone is worth big bucks, did you read the MSNBC article?

The publicity from this is what is going to introduce this book to new people... We just need to get Drudge to report on this thing, and we'll see the rankings take a rocket ride.

    Amazing

    Honestly,

This is amazing, he's whooping it up on Amazon. Another piece of evidence that Ron Paul's support base is no mere internet mirage. It's real.

Well, I better buy another one before the 1st printing runs out. It will be a collector's item.

No it isn't. Any money, including profit from items you purchase, is included in the $2300 limit.
