I dont think it makes any difference if the Debt Ceiling gets raised or not. I suspect that the Stock Market is going to take a major digger on Aug 2nd when the outcome of Debt Ceiling is announced, what ever that outcome is.
Just total gut feeling, no statistical analysis going on here.

It´s NOT going crash. The only thing driving it down is the uncertainty. As soon as ANY agreement is announced, the market will rally. Regardless of the terms of the debt ceiling hike. If there would be major cuts (won´t happen anyway), this would actually be more bearish than a continuation of the out of control spending. Big business (banking, insurance, pharma, oil, weapons, agriculture) loves deficit spending because it means more special privileges. Added on to that, deficit spending means more QE = inflation = bullish for the stock market. In nominal terms we´ll see higher stock prices soon. In real terms (= gold) we won´t.
