Republicans proposed the same thing- letting Obama raise the limit himself. Nobody wants to take any responsibility so instead they will irresponsibly try to put off or ignore the issues.

I heard something on National Proletariat Radio the other day where a commentator was saying that Obama can live with being known as the president that broke the law to raise the debt limit, but he won't let himself go down in history as the guy who let the default happen.

Which is where we are as a country, folks... it's okay to illegally spend more money, but it's not ok to legally refrain from spending.
