Default Twitter rumor FireDogLake's Jane Hamsher could end up endorsing RP

My Twitter feed has been abuzz lately, with some leftists very angry that Jane Hamsher is about to endorse Ron Paul and push for the "Blue Republican" movement proposed by Robin Koerner of the Huffington Post. For those of you that don't know her, Jane Hamsher is the editor/owner(?) of FireDogLake, a very progressive website that has been critical of President Obama.

You mean an anti-war person is actually going to support the anti-war candidate?

Honestly, color me surprised at that one.

    Shocking.

If it weren't Jane H I'd say surprising, but she actually seems to stick to her principles. I've seen posts by her over there defending us when leftists have said we weren't sincere, pointing out that Ron Paul had the same principles regardless of administration in power, etc.

That would truly be fantastic. If nothing else, it should make a bunch on the left feel guilty and/or sheepish about NOT supporting Ron. That sort of thing, and the potential for it, it why the LEFT media/blogs marginalize/demonize Ron, though. Given how true he is to his principles, they are afraid of what they consider 'defections' even if those defections are actually working to make issues they give lip service to a reality.

This article by Hamsher appears to have sparked everything. The critic responds to her comments with red font.

But that article has nothing to do with Paul.

Be careful how you defend her, remember a poor defense is worse than an attack. Do NOT attack back. That is how trolls pretending to be Ron Paul supporters cause us damage, remember. Focus on shared principles, I would say. Why is supporting principles worse if that means supporting someone on a different 'team?' Is it the principle or issue that is important, or not?

Yeah, I know. But there's a rumor going on that some key staffers at FDL left because Hamsher was going to endorse Ron Paul. If you look at the feed with her name, you'll see people alluding to that. Not necessarily in the specific article I linked, though. I haven't seen anything in writing where she has done this. I wonder if the campaign asked her to wait until after Ames.

Ah, this may have started it. This blog is pretending she called Obama supporters 'dumb mother*s' and is having an Alinsky temper tantrum. h xxp://bit.ly/qCZEye I haven't read it all yet, but will wait to weigh in, if I do, until I know what it is about. They MIGHT be saying 'she will endorse Ron Paul' as hyperbole along with their other hyperbolic insults, and weighing in might not be a good thing... still reading....

It could just be attacks in FEAR she might do that, it sounds like she is coming out against the deal with McConnell for her own reasons from the principled left. Her REASONS often differ with ours, but I can see us both not liking delegation of more power to a unitary executive. Jane H is smart enough to know that that gives as much power to the next president she DOESN'T like, as it does to a president she DOES like, and she may be a bit disenchanted with the current one, in any event.

OK, this appears to be about Jane H calling 'Obots' NOT all Obama supporters, dumb mother*'s, and the Obots are in full melt down (they know who they are.....). Not sure we want to get involved since it could make things worse for her, and I don't see how it helps Ron. Monitor for interest, definitely.

this is kind of interesting: h xxp://democratsforprogress.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=7262

however, it looks like this is nothing to do with Ron. They just threw the handful of kind things she has said about him up at her along with the kitchen sink, it seems.

THIS is the post at firedoglake Lew R and EconomicPolicyJournal unhelpfully cited as 'does firedoglake support Ron Paul?' and it just attacks the Obama debt ceiling compromise from the left: h xxp://www.economicpolicyjournal.com/2011/07/firedoglake-just-announced-support-for.html and is being used against Jane now.

However, I suspect when Jane says the Fed has to go, she says it from the Kuchinch-esque stance of a greenbacker, thinking the government should just take over printing and devaluation of currency (I don't know that, but the post doesn't say printing the money is bad, just using it to buy bonds so we have to pay it back to foreigners is bad. I agree that is bad, too, but it doesn't go to the inflation issue.)

Do we really want any progressives to endorse Ron before or during the primaries? Having once been a blind Republican, I would have immediately dismissed any Republican that got left-wing endorsements.

Now, should Ron win the nomination, by all means embrace endorsements from all sides!

Yeah, who would want a republican candidate that can steal away obama's activist support?

    lOL!

These indeed are those who care enough to bolster activism here. And I agree, though, that her endorsement is a double edged sword. however, I don't really see evidence that anything that formal is in the works. More that now Obama is going after reforming Social Security (as he already cut medicare) and just seems to be trying to find a way to blame it on the GOP, people on the left who stuck with him because 'at least he isn't doing that' see little reason to defend him. He, unlike Ron, doesn't think unneeded militarism and corporate welfare should be cut, first, apparently.

You know...if the principled left came back, that would be amazing. They would be a great asset as an ally to end the wars and for political decentralization. How many 'constitutionalists' today do you see praising the Articles of Confederation and would prefer its return over the Constitution? Principled New Leftists were praising the AoC and wanted to see its return like Gabriel Kolko. I'm not holding my breath though as the left is about 99.9% rabid Nationalists of varied stripes from Socialist to Corporatist, to Communist.
