I would never suggest you spend extra money to buy something from a RP supporter just for the sake of doing so. I realize that you make yourself poorer by buying things that are more expensive just for some principle, like a shared ideology.
I would suggest though that when it is of comparable value, or you just happen to be in the area, it would be smart and just nice of us to support those on record as supporting our cause.
For several years my brother, who runs a small farm, has done business with a certain butcher. I have been to the location a few times myself, but more than anything I hear of the man, and the place, by tales that spread around like some kind of campfire lore.
The guy that runs the place, Ron, is one heck of a butcher first off. More interestingly though he has personality.
When the state of Ohio passed it's Castle Law (allowing concealed carry permits to almost any legal gun owner) it also passed a law making it a felony to carry your gun, legal or otherwise, in any establishment where the permission was not first explicately granted by the ownership. It is now a regular sight to see signs in store windows that show a red circle and slash over top a picture of a handgun. Ron, on the other hand, went another direction...
...he put up a sign that invited legal gun carriers to carry in his store. He actually has a sign up that says something to the effect of 'concealed carry permit holders are welcome to carry in this establishment'. When asked why, story has it he said "it's just extra security anyway".
In 2008 he and his lovely wife donated to Ron Paul's campaign. They also put up a HUGE bilboard supporting Ron Paul's Presidential run. I have no doubts they will continue to support Ron, and the cause of liberty, for years to come.
I've just given you a taste of some of the stuff said about this butcher, his reputation precedes him because of snappy one-liners and things like putting up that sign about gun rights. I've only been to the store myself a few times, and most of what I hear is rumor, or I'd share more.
So, if you're in the area by some chance, or you find his prices comparable, or what have you, please give this Kiko Meats your business.
If you have a local business that supports the cause, give them a shout out below, and let's start being conscious of it more.
If this was already a thread elsewhere, or it's in the wrong area, I apologize.
I do not now do business with, nor have I ever been in business with, Kiko's. I make absolutely nothing from this. I do not know Ron personally, although I have met him and his wife.
