I have only done it once and with good results , I will look for the catalog , because I cannot remember the name of the company . I bought smoe strawberries , three fruit trees , some flowers and a couple of bittersweet bushes , but it was some time ago.

Here's a great place to start:
    http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/

This site lets people rate companies as positive/negative/neutral. Then, the company has an option to post responses to ratings. Many nurseries take their Garden Watchdog rating very seriously. You can also search by what people sell ... but that isn't super reliable. I'd recommend googling for companies selling the plants you want and then check their rating. You can avoid some serious problem companies that way. Many places have their own specialties, and so the trick is finding out who does what well. And, of course, if you can buy everything from one or two places, then shipping becomes less of an issue.

    I've had good success with:
    http://www.burntridgenursery.com/
    http://www.millernurseries.com/
    http://www.noursefarms.com/

    I bought seeds from:
    http://www.horizonherbs.com/
They also sell plants, but I have no experience with their plants. They may have what you're looking for. Half of my seeds that I bought didn't grow ... but that might have been my fault, so I wouldn't necessarily ding them for that.

    I posted earlier this thread:

    http://comstockferre.com/about/
This seed company looks impressive and has free shipping ... I plan on trying them for the first time next year.

If you are willing to trade plants/seeds, check out http://www.plantswap.net/

The gardeners there will trade exotic plants that are hard to find at nurseries.

For trees I've used Stark Bros. They do a hell of a packing job, everything is trackable online, and if a tree arrives damaged you just send them a picture of it and they send you a free replacement, you don't even have to pay shipping for the replacement. http://www.starkbros.com/

I've used Richters for shipments of live plants. They have some exotics such as ashwaghanda and goji berry (aka chinese wolfberry). The only problem is that it takes a few weeks to get anything since they are in canada, and therefore you can't track your order. After some anxiety the plants arrived safely and are doing fine.

I have purchased from e-bay several times and have been satisfied.

Almost all of my fruit trees are from e-bay sellers except my mango and soursop trees.

My cocoa tree and ghost pepper plant are doing great.

What are their prices like? Sizes? I realize nothing is in season but it really bugs me when I can't find out how much it'll cost... also, I tend to go with the more informative websites, and this one isn't even telling us if they're self-fertile.

I'm on their mailing list. I think their catalog has more information - a companion to the website, if you will.

Adams County Nursery in PA will ship 100 top notch fruit trees for about $1200
