House Votes to Ban Troops for Libya War

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...981671470.html

The House on Thursday overwhelmingly voted to prohibit ground troops from being sent to Libya and only narrowly defeated a measure to force President Barack Obama to lay out plans to end the Afghanistan war, in moves that show the limits of congressional support for military involvement in overseas conflicts.

The U.S. military's actions on three fronts—Libya, Afghanistan and Iraq—are wearing on the public, polls show, and lawmakers are leery of additional open-ended military commitments amid a severe budget crunch.

Won't Obama just veto this? - if it even gets to him?

Can still override the veto if it's popular enough.
(No, I'm not the Starcraft guy)

Accept certain inalienable truths: Prices will rise. Politicians will philander. You, too, will get old.
And when you do, you'll fantasize that when you were young, prices were reasonable, politicians were noble and children respected their elders.

What about the provision Amash was talking about that they passed where the president could unilaterally have war anywhere he called 'terrorist'? That is a much bigger hole, and needs to be stopped in the Senate.

Only 3? We stopped dropping bombs on Pakistan and Yemen?

Most likely not. The option to bomb the hell out of them from the air.. is still wide open.

This is playing politics with national security and tying hands of a war time President in the middle of war.

Fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here. This is no time to not support the President and TSA.

If we were not slaughtering them over there, we wouldn't need to worry about them coming over here. Stupid psychotic war pigs.

The Executive Branch, State Department, and DOD/CIA... will just funnel (fraudulently) "other" budgeted tax monies through their secondaries(NATO, ENGLAND, FRANCE, QATAR, etc) to launder the Libyan War/Weapons and covert OPS to overthrowing Qaddafi and the Libyan government.

I am sure the definition of what constitutes "Ground Troops" is probably very narrow so as to give him flexibility to use "other assets" to scheme.
