Why does the establishment love Mitch Daniels so much?

Between him calling for a "truce" on social issues and his disastrous record as Bush's OMB Director, he will get slaughtered in the debates. Ron has a MUCH better chance than him:

Daniel's makes a fair point. Bush flunky vs. Governor. Which is more relevant? I suppose the key is to locate his lack of objection to his comrades in the Bush administration where and if they exist, and ask why he did nothing or did not object. Or resign in protest.

Maybe he can be encouraged to support Ron in case he drops out of the race. In fact I've heard rumors he likes Ron.
