    On now.

MILTON FRIEDMAN: "We do not influence the course of events by persuading people that we are right when we make what they regard as radical proposals. Rather, we exert influence by keeping options available when something has to be done at a time of crisis."
TACITUS: "Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges."
    TEAM AMERICA: "America, FUCK YEAH!"
ENGINEERNJ: "You've got one 75-year-old man trying to keep 300 million people from going down the toilet."

    Excellent!

"If you didn't have the Fed monetizing debt, you couldn't fight these wars because you'd have to tax people." - Ron Paul
What he doesn't have time to elaborate on is the fact that we ARE being taxed for these wars ... and it is very expensive even though it's the hidden tax ... the inflation tax.

"By a continuous process of inflation, governments can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens...and while the process impoverishes many, it actually enriches some (the military industrial complex) .... The process engages all of the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and does it in a manner that not one man in a million can diagnose." --John Maynard Keynes (1883-1946) From "Economic Consequences of the Peace" 1920"

    emphasis mine
"Everyone who believes in freedom must work diligently for sound money, fully redeemable. Nothing else is compatible with the humanitarian goals of peace and prosperity." -- Ron Paul

That is one hell of a quote from Keynes. How could someone so evil be so admired?

That is one hell of a good question, AquaBuddha.

Awesome! I loved at the end how the hosts tripped over each other saying that while everyone else is just now coming around to discussing the fed, Ron has been saying it for YEARS!! Did you also notice how much more educated about these issues the hosts are now? People have been doing their homework.

In the GOP debates, Ron should slam this point home on this and other topics every chance he gets. It'll make all the others look like johnny-come-lately's. His stand-out presence on the stage is gonna work to his favor in a big way this time around. He can be the voice of the populace castigating the establishment, carrying the anger of the tea party right to the presidency.

That quote is out of context - Keynes was actually arguing against currency debasement:

Lenin is said to have declared that the best way to destroy the capitalist system was to debauch the currency. By a continuing process of inflation, governments can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens. By this method they not only confiscate, but they confiscate arbitrarily; and, while the process impoverishes many, it actually enriches some. The sight of this arbitrary rearrangement of riches strikes not only at security but [also] at confidence in the equity of the existing distribution of wealth.

Those to whom the system brings windfalls, beyond their deserts and even beyond their expectations or desires, become "profiteers," who are the object of the hatred of the bourgeoisie, whom the inflationism has impoverished, not less than of the proletariat. As the inflation proceeds and the real value of the currency fluctuates wildly from month to month, all permanent relations between debtors and creditors, which form the ultimate foundation of capitalism, become so utterly disordered as to be almost meaningless; and the process of wealth-getting degenerates into a gamble and a lottery.

Lenin was certainly right. There is no subtler, no surer means of overturning the existing basis of society than to debauch the currency. The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and does it in a manner which not one man in a million is able to diagnose.

In the latter stages of the war all the belligerent governments practiced, from necessity or incompetence, what a Bolshevist might have done from design. Even now, when the war is over, most of them continue out of weakness the same malpractices. But further, the governments of Europe, being many of them at this moment reckless in their methods as well as weak, seek to direct on to a class known as "profiteers" the popular indignation against the more obvious consequences of their vicious methods.

-The Economic Consequences of the Peace by John Maynard Keynes

It reminds one eerily of the present day, doesn't it? After all, Obama has just formed a commission to investigate those wicked oil and gas "speculators", who are driving up energy costs for the working man.

WTF? Ron has higher national polling than Rand does. What poll is he talking about?

I appreciate you providing the correct context. It doesn't make Keynes look quite so evil. Nonetheless, he knew what was going on and supported it anyway.

And for the n00bs on the forum --welcome But just FYI back in the 2007 we had to beg/plead/harass news outlets to get Dr. Paul a short, dismissive interview almost devoid of substance. My how things have changed.

He was on POINT! Notice how the last min or so when he tied in foreign policy with the wars there were NO interruptions - they were actually listening???!

    Amazing, just amazing.

Yeah, I can't believe all the face time Ron's gotten over the last few days, didn't think it was possible.

That's why I support RP. Because it isn't about one issue. It's all inter-connected. After the Fed, the rest is just details.

He's like the Babe Ruth of true conservatism. Another homer for Ron.

That woman was absolutley in love with him.
.... in his heart, and in his head, in his character, and in his intellect, in what he has done, and in what he will become, the Thomas Jefferson of our day, Ron Paul is one of us.
