Are there any of these devices that can be run with some sort of electronic pen to highlight stuff that is still relatively inexpensive?

You can highlight on the Kindle, but not with a pen. You can also take notes in it or whatever, or dogear certain pages.

When you do that on the Kindle, it actually creates a 'book' with highlights and notes, so you don't have to 'thumb' through the original book to see what you highlighted or annotated.
