This quote got me tearing up a bit:

"The thing that sets an American apart from the rest of the world is that he will die on his feet before he'll live on his knees."

I took out "Christian" because we're obviously not a nation of all Christians anymore

I liked it, but an old guy on another forum where I hang out is all pissing and moaning about getting the name of the fort wrong. I think he's referring to the guy in the audio calling it "Fort Henry." Where did the audio come from?

Very good. We are going to need a good directory of all the videos.

Bump for gratitude. I'm the one who requested this. V, you did an excellent job. That should be shown in schools--but they wouldn't dare.

Thanks. Well youtube has a time limit of 10 minutes for videos. Thats why it cut off like it did. Not very much was cut though

Okay, here's the reception it's getting over on another forum. We already had the old dude mention screwing up the name "Fort Henry" instead of "McHenry." Now comes this post. Any thoughts? I already explained to the guy that Ron Paul didn't make the video himself.

What really sucks about that video is that what could have been a truly inspiring message is soiled by inaccuracies that can only be purposeful. Missing the name of Fort McHenry is a minor error that could be chalked up to poor script reading.

What is offensive is that a politician, in an message would try and fool the public by attributing a quote to George Washington that was in fact made by José Martí a Cuban revolutionary and made more famous by Emiliano Zapata a Mexican revolutionary of the early 20th century. What hubris is it that politicians feel free to state as truth mis-information for manipulative purposes?

The true safeguard of liberty is an educated electorate.

well i would like to see where George Washington DIDN'T say that. He may not have been the first to say it, But he did say it.
