Hm, you know... I've been drinking Mountain Dew on and off for years and have been wondering where my man-tits came from. Turns out it was the plastic bottles. Who'd'a guessed.

I voted no. I don't like the taste of plastic water.
The wife and stepdaughter buy them though. I think it is a waste.

Like anything else, reading the label is the key. I've posted about it in other threads. I hate Dasani, I despise Aquafina, but I'll drink the water from Fresh Market or Zephyrhills quite happily. When it comes to having something to drink at work, that's pretty much the only option for me. This office doesn't have a cooler (though I've started a campaign to get one with, again, Zephyrhills), and the main fridge is always packed with nasty things. I like my water cold, so I wind up "buying" the small bottles out of the minifridge for $0.50/bottle.

Anyhow, just look at the label.

Pepsi's Aquafina and Coca-Cola Co's Dasani are both made from purified water sourced from public reservoirs, as opposed to Danone's Evian or Nestle's Poland Spring, so-called "spring waters," shipped from specific locations the companies say have notably clean water.

As to bacon, it's not "good" for you, but it's not necessarily "bad" for you, either. Crispy bacon that isn't swimming in its own grease and dripping fat is not bad at all.

People who eat their bacon "soft" or who eat whole massive piles of it on a regular basis may have some cholesterol problems, obviously.

It is worth mentioning that regular bacon is often "better" for you than turkey bacon and other "healthy" bacons.

I love my bacon soft and greasy. But then since my job is pretty much constant exercise, I don't have a cholesterol problem. I am in the very best life insurance category.

Similarly not good for you, and not bad if it's not so oily, but serving it to people can damage them psychologically.

I just looked up what scrapple is, and I have a question... What is the difference between scrapple and spam?

different parts of the pig. spam is made up of meat from parts normal people eat, scrapple is all the leftovers.

Spam comes in a can with a friendly label.

I still don't understand why anybody in their right mind would pay more for water than they would for gasoline. Most bottled water is just tap water anyway, so not only do you get fluoride & chlorine, you get bonus plastic crap. If you don't have a well, just get a Berkey with fluoride filters and be done with it already.

The poll isn't clear. Do I avoid it completely? No. But if I didn't avoid it at all, for reasons such as the possibility of plastic chemicals leeching as well as excessive usage of plastics in general, then I'd probably drink ONLY bottled water. It's $#@!ing delicious, you can get some great, clean water in the city where you often can't get clean water that has lots of minerals, you can get water from iceland or water that has a nice high pH.. very delicious compared to the city water I have (though I'm at least grateful it isn't fluoridated, and I britta filter it to remove chlorine)

What about getting glass-bottled water? Would that be the best of both worlds?

The "best" for my purposes would be a large communal cooler at work that dispenses spring water. I can then bring my own non-poisonous beverage container to work and refill it, drinking throughout the day.

    * * *

The "I don't get why people buy bottled water" people must not drink a lot of it on the job, or else they have a cooler? I go through 3-4 of those little bitty Zephyrhills bottles of water in a day. I don't really have a chance to run home every so often throughout the day and fill my water bottle out of the fridge. Water out of the tap at work is not cold, and it's not as tasty as spring water.

The "most bottled water is tap water" thing is true only to a certain extent. If you read labels, you'll know which ones are bottled from "municipal sources" and which ones have a disclosed spring as their source.

I like my BPA-free nalgene bottle. If im going out for a day, I'll bring one filled and another frozen and it melts throughout the day.

    Sounds expensive and potentially dangerous.

I try not to drink a lot of bottled water, but I always have some in my car in case I'm ever thirsty in there. It stores for months. When I stay at my parents house they have bottled water and I drink that because the city started fluoridating the tap water a few years ago.

Why dangerous? I think you'll notice if they break.

As far as being expensive, I'm actually not familiar with water prices in general to make a comparison. One can buy 12 liters of this glass-bottled water for $26. But that does sound expensive. It has naturally high pH too.
