Ron Paul booed twice at Florida Republican Presidential ‘debate’
Posted by Gary Shumway under Socialism , War , Voting , Ron Paul , Elections , Individuals , Military , Hillary Rodham C.

Did you get an opportunity to view the Florida Republican Presidential debacle…err…I mean ‘debate’. I caught most of it, but frankly only because I felt duty bound to post same herein. Only the principle American media would dignify these 30 second sound bites by the candidates as a debate. That alone is laughable. The format is totally unrealistic.

Yet, I did notice several things during the sound bites … err … ‘debate’.

    1. Romney’s hair was mussed up! Is this a new look for Mr. Slick?

    2. Hunter, or was it Huckabee (I get them mixed up), was trying out some humor for a change. Nice touch, but staged.

    3. McCain can still elicit a standing applause when he mentions his ‘being tied up’ during the Vietnam War years. Obviously we appreciate his service, but he has morphed into a politician and lost his way.

    4. Hillary was repeatedly the supposed candidate of the Democrats. Her sound bites and lack of experience were roundly made fun of, except for a quip by Huckabee. He said Hillary, as president, would be anything but funny. He’s right. Romney said Hillary had no experience. I disagree, she’s got ‘bimbo eruption control’ experience.

    5. Thompson, when given the lines, makes a great president. In real life, he’s a soft drink without the carbonation…soda there but no fizz.

    6. The war in Iraq was a repeated topic of the ‘debate’. All the candidates except Rep. Ron Paul, told us of the dire danger of the Islamofascists and how they were out to kill everyone of us. How we needed to fight this ‘war on global terror’. How we must, at all costs, not allow Iran to become nuclear. How we must continue to build our military-industrial complex and project our power around the globe in the name of humanity…oh yeah…and democracy. I felt that I was at one of Hitler’s rallies. The crowd loved it.

    7. When Dr. Paul spoke of non-intervention, promoting trade, using the money saved from recalling our military for domestic purposes, and in general, what the hell are we doing with military in over 129 countries, he was roundly booed, on two separate occasions. This is in stark contrast with past debates. Interesting how 70 percent of the American public want us out of Iraq yet the other 30 percent were invited to the ‘debate’. What applause Dr. Paul engendered was more polite than energetic. The neo-conservatives, the North American Union, one world government, and police state people have a lot to lose if Dr. Paul is elected. Now that he’s got some publicity via his third quarter campaign contributions, expect more animosity from his opponents.

Now is the time to redouble our support for Rep. Ron Paul!

According to a Florida Republican who tried to get debate tickets:

"This was hardly the “Republican base”. So who was in the audience? As a Florida Republican I tried to get tickets, but I couldn’t. Why? They were almost all given to the campaigns who paid $100,000 = Giuliani, Romney, Thompson, and McCain. That was THEIR SUPPORTERS booing the American people for wanting their troops home. That was THEIR SUPPORTERS wanting to start another Cold War."

They paid for tickets? What documentation is there for that? Who did they pay it to? This sounds like RICO stuff to me.

It made me sick to watch this debate. The people boo when someone says end the war, talk to people, do not rattle the saber at Russia...TALK to them,PEACE. These people BOOED these concepts?! WTF?! And they CHEERED when the other candidates talked about escalating the war(Iran) and confronting Russia?!

Did they have an IQ limit requirement of 60 to be able to attend?

FOX news.....good name, fox are known for their slyness, seems so appropriate now.

    Dave and Dary,

After some thought I agree with your take on the booing. We need to youtube it so other people can see it as well. I still find the act of booing RP's stances quite ignorant, uneducated and obtuse. Hopefully other people will see this.

    Steve.

Those campaigns did pay $100,000 but they did not get a bunch of tickets to the debate. If you wanted a ticket to the debate you had to turn in an application by June 30th and pay $100. The application process was not publicly announced. It was up to each individual County Executive Committee to fill their ration of seats. Since it was $100, the seats were mostly filled up with Executive Committee activists and donors who are Bush supporters. A lot of Ron Paul supporters who had a chance to go decided to give their $100 to Ron instead of the RPOF.

I believe that the booing cost the Republican party thousands of votes. 73% of America watching at home agree with Dr. Paul on getting us out of Iraq. Most people at home felt the Republican party was not booing Dr. Paul personally. They were booing his position on the war, which is their position on the war. The Republican crowd was booing America. Its all about blowback.

EDIT: see previous post on how this actually worked. The information I saw on another site was apparently incorrect.

I think the booing will end up being a good thing for Ron. Every time he is attacked he looks better and better.

Well that explains that! It definitely seemed like a highly preselected group of Bush-clone neo-cons. It was appalling to hear them actually BOO the candidate espousing peace. I was ashamed of them as an American and amazed the State of Florida could amass so many blind-faith neo-cons into one room.

Some good news about the debate. There were only 3000 people in attendance. The RPOF expected a lot more people to attend. That is why it was set where it was. The room capacity could have been around 7000, but they just did not sell enough tickets. The Republican Party of Florida is getting weaker and weaker.

Agreed. I heard people at the corner store talking about that today. I walked over and told them I was voting for Ron Paul and they should think about doing the same and handed them slim jims.

I mean come on booing peace????? Who are these chicken hawks?
