    Palladium hit $800!

    Been a long time coming.

2011 may yet be the year of palladium...

Wonder if we'll see it go to $1100 the way it did at the end of 1999.

    Very, very nice to see.

Other than platinum, I have very few arguments against aquiring any amount of the other PM's.

It's been the best performer of the 4 PMs with an international currency code for the past two years now.

What arguments do you have against acquiring platinum?

what's wrong with platinum? what makes it different from palladium investment-wise?

a combination of utility and price...history. Silver and palladium have WAY more utility, more affordable..and gold is known MONEY. There's a reason why platinum is returning a lot less right now.

But on the other hand, platinum coins are produced by both the U.S. and Canadian Mints and have lower minting premiums than palladium bars or coins, and historically trades up to twice the price of gold, which, at its current price, gives it more room to gain than silver and palladium has.

I am so glad I held on to my palladium!

If it does, that would be a 37.5% increase. I expect silver is going to way out-perform that in 2011 (so I'm not sure that "year of palladium" will be warranted even if it performs spectacularly).

I think maybe platinum is due for a rally. Gold, silver, and palladium all soared during the year but platinum didn't move too much.

Platinum is still well below it's highs of 2008.

I'd still rather own silver than any of the precious metals, but it might be a decent time to get into some platinum for diversification. I'm just basing that on looking at those charts though, I'm not very knowledgable about PM's.

So palladium is about half the price of platinum. I don't see why that would make a big difference. If people are looking for cheap precious metal coins, they would just buy silver I would think.
