Default The inhumane conditions of Bradley Manning's detention

    An article by Glenn Greenwald

    Some highlights:

For 23 out of 24 hours every day -- for seven straight months and counting -- he sits completely alone in his cell. Even inside his cell, his activities are heavily restricted; he's barred even from exercising and is under constant surveillance to enforce those restrictions. For reasons that appear completely punitive, he's being denied many of the most basic attributes of civilized imprisonment, including even a pillow or sheets for his bed (he is not and never has been on suicide watch).
    Emphasis mine.

He is clearly being made example of what happens if you disobey the masters.
My personality type: INTJ - please forgive my weaknesses (Not naturally in tune with others feelings; may be insensitive at times, tend to respond to conflict with logic and reason, tend to believe I'm always right, tend to be unwilling or unable to accept blame )

this country and those in charge are truly sick. Something is truly wrong with a human being that can do this to another human being.

Barbaric, disgusting treatment of a human being. It's not even legal to treat animals this way in many places. Free Manning now!

We give the "terrorist fighters" we capture in Afghanistan/Iraq free healthcare, access to lawyers and pretty much anything they want for risk of offending the muslim community and these are people who have been actively engaged in activities that try to kill/injure US soldiers. Manning downloads some cables and he gets the Evie treatment from V from Vendetta? Guilty or not of violiating the UCMJ/Espionage laws he is still innocent until proven guility, a concept this gov't has totally forgotten. Agree or disagree with the whole wikileaks thing or not, anyone that has a conscience and a sense of decency should be outraged at this barbaric treatment. More and more I'm convinced that human decency is quickly becoming a dead concept.

    Sounds like the Chateau d'If
"Your mother's dead, before long I'll be dead, and you...and your brother and your sister and all of her children, all of us dead, all of us..rotting in the ground. It's the family name that lives on. It's all that lives on. Not your personal glory, not your honor, but family." - Tywin Lannister
