Anybody got the real US Geological Survey link?

I have read all over the web that the U.S. Geological Survey says that all the silver will essentially be used up in twenty years, that silver will essentially go extinct.

Does anybody know where the USGS actually said this? Everybody keeps repeating it, but it's an echo chamber. Anybody got a real link?

I've been unable to find it on the USGS website.

I'm also guessing it assumes we don't find new ways to use silver that is more efficient and that more of it will not be found, as well...which is...well, typical of a lot of these reports; it's similar to how the Club of Rome is incessantly stating that "we're going to be out of oil in 20 years", yet that date has rolled around multiple times with plenty to spare.

    found here:

The report lists reserves increased from 2009, and noted reserve base is not listed as it was the prior year.

Thanks, libertyjam! So that info isn't mythical.

Wow. 400k worldwide reserves and 21k annual mine production.

Silver really is underpriced. There are pumpers online but the thing about twenty years is real.

    not

An element, such as silver, can't become extinct and can't be used up. Unless you are shooting it into space or changing it into a different element in a nuclear reaction, every atom of silver that was in the earth when it first formed will be here when the sun dies out in a billion years.

It might be dispersed in a manner that makes it difficult to recover, for example small amounts in countless electronic devices buried in landfills all over the world, or it might be locked up in long-term applications like dental fillings or high-end jewelry. But, unlike oil, it isn't consumed.

^read the definition of reserves in the link

Reserves.—That part of the reserve base which could be economically extracted or produced at the time of determination.

meaning, the $#@! doesn't disappear, but it's economically infeasible to extract using known techniques

Economically infeasible, but as the price of silver goes up more and more will be economically feasible to extract.
