Thread: Senate passes "Food Safety" bill 73-25

Thumbs down Senate passes "Food Safety" bill 73-25

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...113002276.html

Why they should have opposed it:
    http://www.freedomworks.org/publicat...ernization-act
If passed, federal bureaucrats who know little about agriculture will tell farmers how to “appropriately” grow their crops. Food producers will likely spend hundreds of millions of dollars to comply with these frivolous new rules that dictate what kind of soil or how much water a farmer should use. This cost will be passed on to consumers in the form of higher food prices. To carry out these new rules, the federal government is required to hire, according to Section 401, thousands upon thousands of new bureaucrats funded by “such sums as may be necessary”.

Big agriculture companies that are lobbying for this bill will easily be able to adjust to the new rules. It will be more difficult for small farmers to comply with the new costly regulations. Ultimately, this dangerous bill could weed out competition by destroying independent family farmers that provide healthy choices.

    So lame.
Government is instituted for the common good; for the protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness of the people; and not for profit, honor, or private interest of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, the people alone have an incontestable, unalienable, and indefeasible right to institute government; and to reform, alter, or totally change the same, when their protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness require it.

John Adams, Thoughts on Government, 1776

    Another nail in the coffin.
There are no crimes against people.
There are only crimes against the state.
And the state will never, ever choose to hold accountable its agents, because a thing can not commit a crime against itself.

At some point, bullets will fly, and this issue is just as good as any.
Out of every one hundred men they send us, ten should not even be here. Eighty will do nothing but serve as targets for the enemy. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, upon them depends our success in battle. But one, ah the one, he is a real warrior, and he will bring the others back from battle alive.

Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. This bill has only passed the Senate, correct? It has yet to go through the House? Hopefully Nancy has enough other nonsense she wants to try to push through that this will get muddled up in committee? One can hope?

This will give us an idea of how the republicans vote AFTER the election. This lame duck session is extremely dangerous to our liberties.

well, Burr and Hagan for one. Phone is now ringing off the hook w constituents angry at Burr.
http://glenbradley.net/share/aleksan...nitsyn_4-t.gif “And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” ― Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

there are republicans here in Fl who are supporting this so that bigger farming companies can hedge their bets against smaller farming businesses being able to survive under the pressures of the regulations. its not only the left.
