The Forces That Promote Social Change?

Doing a paper on this topic and wanted get some ideas for this. I know I want to talk about the media, Edward Bernays, music, corporatism, consumerism, movies, even the personality of the president and it's effect on the population. It's a 1000 word essay so I can't put too much stuff. What are some points I should stress in this?
