Omaha, Nebraska Mayor Jim Suttle is likely to face a recall election and a fight to keep his job, barring a large number of rejected petition signatures.

Jeremy Aspen, co-chairman of the Mayor Suttle Recall Committee, said the group turned in 37,219 signatures Friday afternoon, the deadline for the recall drive.

That's nearly 40 percent more than the 26,643 required to force a recall election.

The group filed a recall affidavit against Suttle last month, citing “excessive taxes, broken promises and union deals that cost taxpayers millions.”
