    The French (pension) Revolution

Just a matter of time before this happens here.

    Yup

And it is actually a pretty mild reform. Not nearly enough to fix France's problems. But even an obviously essential and relatively mild reform sets off massive resistance. Soon there will be rival protests by those who see that they are getting a worse deal. Then the factions will turn on each other.

And this is a preview of what will happen here but ten times worse.
The proper concern of society is the preservation of individual freedom; the proper concern of the individual is the harmony of society.

They might as well riot and protest against God, reality, and the physical limitations of the world.

Only socialsts could be so deluded.

    My thoughts exactly:

People: "GOVT TAKE CARE OF ME AT A RATE HIGHER THAN WE PRODUCE"

GOVT: "IF YOU ELECT ME I WILL GIVE YOU WANT YOU WANT"

    PEOPLE: "YAY!"

GOVT: "So WE'RE GOING BANRUPT, CAN WE CUT DOWN ON EXCESSIVE AND OVER SPENDING"

    PEOPLE: "REVOLUTION!!!"

Makes you wonder if there is something to natural selection after all. Maybe France has a much lower support for "rugged individualism" than the US today because so many of their bravest and brightest were lost in the First World War.
