TN has a Liberty Candidate with a Chance to Win a State Senate Seat in November!!

Dr. Steve Dickerson handily won his primary as a Republican for State Senate District 21. While Steve is running a focused campaign with tight messaging, he is well-known amongst the Ron Paul 2008 crowd as someone we all support.

However, a recent turn of events has made this a winnable race. Due to redistricting, the Tennessee Republican Party, which holds a majority, has signaled that it is worthwhile for Republican activists to offer resources to Dickerson's race.

Dickerson's opponent, who has held his seat since the presidency of Truman, faced a bitter primary challenge which ended in such a tight vote that a recount had to be ordered. There was a degree of re-positioning inside of the Democratic Party machine, and a deep division was demonstrated by the close primary results. With Republican enthusiasm at a high point and a Republican-favored gubernatorial race going on at the time, Dickerson has a great chance to win!

In Tennessee, the state party is quite powerful and has the ability to tip the campaign in our favor. However, we need the support of the Ron Paul community to make this happen.

When I was first introduced to Dr. Dickerson's candidacy, party leaders(I serve on the executive committee of the Davidson County GOP) indicated that his truck featured a Ron Paul for President sticker. Dr. Steve Dickerson is the real deal, and it would be helpful to us here in the Music City of Nashville, TN if you guys could find it in your heart and/or wallets to help Dr. Dickerson with a donation.

If you don't have any funds free, we would appreciate any grassroots activism you could offer that would help him win this race.

Winning this race would demonstrate to the TN Republican Party that additional seats can be picked up by libertarian-Republicans in urban areas. This is something we all know to be true, but this victory would prove it. This would help future campaigns, including a particularly important one that may go down in 2012.

Please consider supporting this race with your efforts; it is truly winnable, and TN desperately needs a liberty candidate like Steve in the state senate.

This article shows some promising new break-through information. With Jack Johnson's endorsement, Dickerson's chances improve dramatically. Furthermore, 10,000 ballots were cast in the republican primary for the state senate seat, and 11,400 or so were cast in the Dem primary. This is a completely unheard of phenomenon in Nashville politics for that number of Republican voters to take a primary ballot for the party in that type of race.

This race has the potential to be a lot closer than the city establishment thinks; if they don't put their campaign into high gear, which they might not, Dickerson could sneak up and take the seat.
