Ron Paul Again Leads in Military Contributions

(Just blasted the following to several hundred media e-mail addresses )

Once again, Ron Paul has outraised all candidates in the Republican primary race in donations from current and former members of the military. Ron Paul's controversial message of non-interventionism may not be popular with the rest of the Republican field, but it seems clear that it is resonating with the troops that are potentially put into harm's way by American foreign policy. Ron Paul voted against the Iraq War from the outset, and remains a strong advocate for a humble foreign policy, and a return to the Republican policies of non-interventionism and 'no nation building'.

    Ron Paul $40466.72

Anybody who doesn't realize Ron Paul's natural appeal to the traditional sort of citizen-soldier mentality that is still common in the U.S. military is a chickenhawk ripe for for the plucking. Despite the recent efforts to convert the U.S. military to a mercenary force, there is still a strong vein of the populist armory on State Street, heartland mentality in the U.S. military, maybe even stronger than it has in the past as the all volunteer force has increasingly had to rely on recruits ever further removed from the cosmopolitan bicoastal America of the elites.

There, I said it. Me, I was a enlisted as USMC sniper, then commissioned as submarine officer. This misunderstanding of military mindset is an indicator of the fundamental flaws in the leadership of our country, similar to that of the Romans, who were eventually subsumed by their Gothic and Gothic like legions and populations.

To me, I would be surprised if all these military guys weren't suppotrting Ron Paul.
