Report released on nationwide police misconduct

    http://www.injusticeeverywhere.com/?p=2776

I know it's been asked several times here if your odds of being killed increase in the presence of law enforcement. This site has the data for the first 6 months of 2010.

Here is just one of the graphs:
    Been a long time....

I'm not sure what this graph is showing.

Is that all incidents per 100,000 people vs. all incidents per 100,000 cops?

If that's the case, you're certainly not much safer around cops, and at higher risk of sexual assault.

Yes you are reading the graph correctly, and it appears you are far more likely to be raped by a cop than by an average citizen.

It also proves the point I've made many times.

Based on these numbers, a random contact with a cop has more than twice the chance of leading to your death than a similar random encounter with a fellow citizen.

And now there is evidence to prove it is more than three times as likely, not just twice.

Quite right, when you add murder by cop and "deadly excessive force".

Wow, I actually get to post this twice in one day!

...the police have NO DUTY to protect an innocent individual's rights and property. The courts in every jurisdiction throughout the US have universally upheld this position. Here's a whole thread on the topic:

    http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=228509

Professional police forces do NOT exist to protect the rights and property of innocent individuals. They were NEVER intended for such a purpose. They exist solely and completely for the purpose of enforcing the will of the power elites, and protecting those power elites against YOU.

In other words they are, in effect, an occupational army whose sole purpose is to oppress YOU. Period.

They violate the rights of innocent individuals every day. They routinely taze, beat and kill innocent people. They destroy their property, bust down their doors, toss their premises and all this without even an apology. They throw innocent people in cages to be abused and raped. They regularly destroy the lives of innocents. They make false charges and then lie in court. The list of police abuses and usurpations goes on, and on, and on.

Thanks for the opportunity, OP. AND for the data.
    Chris

Probably wouldn't hurt to add that, according to John Lott's research, police "accidentally" shoot the wrong personn 11 times more often than do private gun owners.

Not lookin' good for the boys in blue.

    That +1776

They are the front line enforcement arm of a rogue and increasingly tyrannical state.

This quote gives one tremendous insight into the purpose behind professional police forces, if one gives it some thought:

"Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with." ('Atlas Shrugged' 1957)
Their true purpose revealed for all to see. Keep the mundanes in line, and cash in on the effort.

That color code map doesn't seem to factor in state populations. Notice the redder stars are all big empty wilderness, and the bluer states are where everyone lives. I appreciate that Statistics is hard. I took that class twice, but I learned enough to know often people paid to provide stats are either idiots or are misleading. Essentially, to cover a state you need minimal law enforcement per town/ per mile. The big pop states have the disadvantage of budget complexity. That's 2 skews right there that make any incident in a small pop state seem bigger and any incident in a big pop state seem smaller.

But never mind that. 8 letters; NYPD LAPD. Blue? No.

It's per capita ... so it "should" take state populations into consideration. However ... there's a lot of NY to offset NYC. This would be far more helpful if it were broken down by county.

It would be so comforting to know that my death was not murder but simply death by excessive force.
