Nevada GOP Senate candidate Sharron Angle took a swipe at Sen. Bob Bennett (R-Utah) Monday for being an “out of touch” elitist after he characterized the tea partiers as having no identifiable strategy.
Bennett, who lost his party’s nomination to tea party activists, made the remark during a recent interview with the Associated Press, saying he is concerned the grassroots conservative movement has “clearly no strategy.”
Of Angle's Senate run, Bennett said, “There's no way Harry Reid loses in Nevada.”
Asked about the comments Monday by Fox News’s Neil Cavuto, Angle said that Bennett “has become one of the elitists that is no longer in touch with” constituents back home.
“We're tired of being water boarded with high unemployment, high foreclosure rates and high bankruptcy rates,” she said, evoking the controversial interrogation technique.
Angle then defended tea party activists as having been very clear about the direction in which they want to take the country.
“We have been very articulate,” she said. “We understand what the solution is, which is to pay back on the deficit and the debt, cut back on the spending so we can cut back that deficit
and then take back our economy by promoting some things that will really make a difference.”
Angle added that “we need a true audit of the Fed” and the government should “liquidate Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.”
