This is great news. I'm wondering how many signatures over he was. Hopefully the complaint about out of state workers doesn't cause any signature disqualifications.

Pure awesomeness. Major kudos to everyone who collected the sigs and worked their butts off for this!

    HUZZAH!!! HUZZAH!!! HUZZAH!!! Woot!
http://glenbradley.net/share/aleksan...nitsyn_4-t.gif “And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” ― Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

I'm fairly sure that the signatures were vetted already as part of this process.

    Even so:

Schiff, 47, the president of Euro Pacific Capital, failed to win significant support at the convention, but immediately launched a petition drive. He needed 8,268 valid signatures to qualify; Bysiewicz said he had more than 8,600.
Genuine, willful, aggressive ignorance is the one sure way to tick me off. I wish I could say you were trolling. I know better, and it's just sad.

"It doesn't change my thinking at all," Simmons said. "I am remaining on the ballot."
Simmons said he had emailed Schiff on Friday wishing him well.
"I wished him good luck. I hope he is successful," Simmons said.
I wonder what type of success he is hoping upon him.

Schiff Earns Spot on Primary Ballot
Best-selling Author Lauds Volunteers for Successful Statewide Efforts

MILFORD, CT - U.S. Senate candidate and economy expert Peter Schiff today announced he earned a spot on the August 10th Republican primary ballot. Schiff exceeded the 8,268 signatures required by state law and received confirmation from Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz.

"We are thrilled to hear the news that our efforts have proved successful," said Peter Schiff. "Connecticut Republicans now have a alternative: a wrestling promoter or a businessman and economist. Given the state of our economy, I think the choice is clear."

"I look forward to waging a competitive campaign and defeating Linda McMahon August 10th," Schiff added. "I am confident as voters learn more about me, they will like what they see and hear. From fighting to remove the government roadblocks preventing employers from creating jobs to keeping taxes low, I am the only one in the race with the skill-set necessary to help get our economy back on track."

A staunch believer that America can no longer borrow to live beyond its means, Schiff pledges to use expertise garnered from building a successful investment company to stop growing the government and start growing our economy.

    Even so:
I am not so sure about it. The process was validating the signatures, checking the party affiliations, looking for duplicates, making sure each page was up to standards, etc. The complaints very likely are a separate matter that demands investigation and possible legal action in order to resolve. My point is, if pursued this could lead to some disqualifications of signatures later on. I hope no action occurs, but I wouldn't put it past Linda's campaign to put pressure on the issue.

Bysiewicz said the registrars of voters reported validating 8,697 signatures, just 429 more than the required 8,268 names.

    Sweet!

The petitioners with boots on the ground have stated that the campign went through pains to ensure out-of-towners were escorted around. The campaign was careful about making sure it followed regulations/laws on the point of the volunteers.

I agree with you, but that doesn't mean the complaints have played out yet. If a few hundred signatures get thrown out that could lead to a disqualification, so this seems like a potentially serious issue.
