Thread: Earthquake Thread

    Lightbulb Earthquake Thread

This is a tread were there will be no bashing of anyone. It is intended to be a tread to discuss what is going on with earthquakes that are gaining in intensity.

    EQ stands for Earthquake.

I am suggesting we have not seen anything yet on what is coming up shortly.

This is one of the sites to keep your eyes on.

    http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquak...quakes_all.php

This is the one to check each day and hit the animate button at the top.

    http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsanim/

    The oldest day drops off.

    More on my thoughts later.

Here is what I have experienced since the Easter Sunday earthquake in Baja CA at 7.3.

I was at the computer that day waiting until it was time to leave for Easter Dinner with 12 people. I got sick to my stomach and dizzy and thought I was ready to have a stroke. I felt the EQ and when we got together with the rest, one had their pool with waves and the other was on a third story building feeling the quake in Phoenix.

Since that time, I keep getting ear tones from a screaming to a dropping to very low tones. I keep getting the sick feeling and I check the EQ drum and sure enough the needle is going nuts.

Any other people going through the same experience out there?

One other thing, I feel like the earth is in motion sometimes when I stand. My wife has also been watching this taking place.

what I would really like to see (and am too lazy/busy to put one together myself, is the number of earthquakes per 7 day period this year compared to the same last year and 5 years ago.

  12. #10
I agree it would be interesting to see that comparison. Not sure where one would start to find that out.

It just might look like a hockey stick. Smile.

I looked at the USGS site this am. and most are in bold letters today. A 6.0 late last night.

Fairly large earthquake going on right now if you want to watch the NAU drum posted above.

  14. #12
3.9 in Baja CA if it is the same one.

Just picked this up from another site. Can't vouch one way or the other. From my ears ringing and with the new moon he might well be right.

"Big Bear City Seismic Swarm Update: San Jacinto Fault Stress Spreading Out

    June 09, 2010, 07:56:50 PM

    by Frank Condon
    Hello all:

An increasing number of micro quakes have been epicentered close to two major faults. The Northern Frontal Thrust Fault where it is intersected by the Helendale Fault appears to be the most affected location related to the current Shear Stress sequence. There continues to be a significant amount of lithospheric stress now building in the region from Borrego Springs to Lucerne Valley, CA. The shear Zone between the Anza Seismic Gap and Mt San Gorgonio is attempting to keep the level in check.

Another surge in Upper Level Shear Stress was detected between 02:00 and 03:00 (UT) on June 8, 2010. There have been no high amplitude Remote MT Trigger Pulses detected since June 3, 2010 at 17:00 to 18:00 (UT). It would be wise to be aware for something of significance to occur in this region possibly right before the New Moon arrives on June 12, 2010.

I saw that. The young man might well have the inside track. Some are gifted.

Some swarms in Baja CA this am. Tonight begins the new moon. I am keeping my eyes open this weekend for sure. Major planets line up on the 13 th.

Here is what happens on Sunday.

"Sunday June 13th the planets Uranus, Jupiter and Mercury will lie on one side of the sun, while Venus, Mars and Saturn will lie on the other -- the Earth will be perpendicular to them all."

Best I can tell they are saying this hasn't happened for thousands of years.

    4.3 in Baja CA. now.

    http://maps.google.com/maps?q=32.391...2&f=d&t=h&hl=e

Salton Sea has a fault going under the Sea and down to where the EQ happened.

The Salton Sea might be were the major one happens. Most think up to LA. I am wondering if down likewise due to all the Baja CA. EQ'S. When the ground turns to liquid the Sea may run South with a large EQ. Just thinking out loud. The EQ map shows it starting at the Salton Sea and going to LA.

Here is the shake out map showing it starting from the Salton Sea and moving to LA.

My concern is with all the Baja EQ'S it might also fracture on the S. side. What do I know, just watching and giving my input from months of watching and running the daily EQ animation.

Time will tell. Better to keep an eye on things and be safe.

Genuine, willful, aggressive ignorance is the one sure way to tick me off. I wish I could say you were trolling. I know better, and it's just sad.

Right you are. They have downgraded to a 7.5 now.

Take a look at the NAU drum still going crazy.

    http://seismicwebcam.glg.nau.edu/Cgi...gle&Language=0

Caution all the next few days. Keep an eye out as I am guessing we are going to see several more large ones. We could still get several big ones tonight.

  25. #22
Interesting article. They had a drill in anticipation the T alignment of plants might cause a major earthquake. Nailed it big time.

    http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/loca...-tsunami-fears

The word is that they just might be the first due to it being night there. Major earth forces right now.

Maybe crude oil is the lubricant for the tectonic plates, I don't know.
    Remember humans are people too.

  27. #24
You are correct from my understanding. Sometimes water can also have that effect.

The oil is what helps the plates to slip easier. Take away the oil and the quakes might be much larger in magnitude in the future.

Major earthquakes non stop the last 24 hours.

    Keep alert West Coast.

    7.5 India then 6.1 Japan.

Still be alert. Cardinal Climax comes up July 11th which has not happened for 50,000 years. Alignment of the planets. You all do the research.

It looks like some big ones might be coming up. What I like about this site is they show their prediction results.

    http://www.nextearthquake.com/earthq...arthquakes_top

OK, KS and Nebraska getting hit with major floods. Weather is wacko lately.

    Sun? Planet's or gravity?

Swarm of earthquakes in S. CA. Check USGS site two posts up. Over 70 so far. A 5.7 among them.

I wonder if a big one is coming yet?

My advice: do a search for the posts of a user named Weatherbill. He's got some predictions of future natural events which I at first thought far-fetched, but now...I just don't know.

  33. #29
Thank you. I did a little checking and he is saying a big one Sept 3rd this year. I will check out more on what he has to say.

    Picked up on this article,

    http://www.postonline.co.uk/reinsura...isk-mega-quake

CA still rocking and rolling. Might pick up more towards the evening. Some major pressure blasts coming from the sun today and possibly tomorrow.
