What is Rand's stand on BP oil spill?

This got brought up in a discussion in ABC's comment section. http://blogs.abcnews.com/george/2010...ge/2/#comments

I am trying to add some balance defending Rand and did not see the interview where they talked about BP.

ive never heard him bring up BP or environmental concerns except with coal mining and protecting property rights.

my guess: Rand would say its important to protect property owners from being polluted or interfered with by others. he'd probably say its important to enforce laws that are in place already but also important to look at existing limits on property owners and drilling and look at whether they are good or not and examine them closely.

He said he doesn't yet know if it started because rules were broken or because of an accident, but that he considers BP responsible to clean it up.

Also surprised the host (who assumed he would say it's not the governments business, I guess) by mentioning that since the spill is in international waters that the federal government should be involved.

I believe he is against it.

Rand is pro-oil spill. He likes the gooey consistency that oil gives sand under his toes.
if modern agriculture continues to follow the path it's on now, it's finished. The food-growing situation may seem to be in good shape today, but that's just an illusion based on the current availability of petroleum fuels. All the wheat, corn, and other crops that are produced on big American farms may be alive and growing, but they're not products of real nature or real agriculture. They're manufactured rather than grown. The earth isn't producing those things.. petroleum is! -Masanobu Fukuoka
