Thread: Anyone hear Conway's speech?

    Anyone hear Conway's speech?

"If you like the American with Disabilities act, If you like the Civil Rights Act, Rand Paul is not your man because he is against them." Pretty much calling Paul a racist.

Then he calls out Trey Grayson as a good and decent man, who he hopes "stays in the game." Seems like he'd prefer an establishment race, big surprise.

All I can say is, I hope Rand takes this prick down hard.

whereas Grayson had to hold back SOME of the comments about abolishing useless, wasteful, but popular government programs in order to look like he was for smaller government, the Democrats will just beat him over the head with it.

The Too Kooky For KY and Strange Ideas campaign themes are only going to be increased x1000

"If you like big government...Rand Paul is not your man"

fortunately he doesn't get it...he'll be puzzled in November about why he lost by so much
Definition of political insanity: Voting for the same people expecting different results.

This is EXACTLY what I expected

They're going to paint Rand as someone who wants to throw a handicapped person out of their wheelchair and force old people to work till they're 90

Rand and David have been amazing strategists so far...I've got to believe they have a plan for the whole way through November.

I think the thing to do is make is to everyone in Kentucky think Conway=Obama...The current Democrat party isn't your grandfather's Democrat party.

    Viva la revolution!

This "Americans with Disabilities" angle is absolutely not what I expected. I was so angry when I heard this attack repeated on CNN... I cannot believe they would sink this low...

He had one point... Both the Democrats had more votes than Rand. Why are Republican turnouts so low? Is it possible that not only is it a 'take out the incumbent' but take out the controlling party movement, in which case Democrats have a better shot.. Although I'm pretty sure Republicans will take this seat.

By the way, this guy is good at speech.... I hope the people don't fall for 'good talker' like Obama.

Mother Fer. If he's going to paint Rand as far right, we're going to paint him as the child lover he is.

KY voters register as Dems as a sort of family tradition

KY voters overwhelmingly chose McCain over Obama by like double digits.

KY Dems are VERY conservative. Pro-coal, pro-2nd amendment, pro-life, anti-Washington.

A lot of Dems vote Repub in federal elections

This $#@!tard Conway talks about fear in the video and then goes on fearing people about Rand Paul by just lying and taking things out of context. Talk about hypocrisy and politics as usual.

I have to say, that was an excellent speech by Conway, much better than Rand's victory speech.

We cannot get complacent. Conway will be a tough opponent, because he is a great speaker, he is good looking, he is smooth (much like Obama), and his attacks on Rand were devastating. He does a very good job at appealing to the emotions of Kentuckians, and that could help him beyond the liberal Dems.

This man is a much tougher opponent than Grayson, or even Mongiardo. Rand Paul will have to retool his message, tone down the Tea party talk, find an effective way to respond to the inevitable and relentless attacks, and reach out to Kentuckians as a people. He has to do more to fight Conway than to bash Obama, because I highly, highly doubt that alone will work. I feel that winning this will require a much, much different strategy than was needed to beat Grayson. I'm sure David Adams knows much more than I do about this, but I hope that Rand Paul can effectively fend of Conway's attacks and give people a good reason to vote for him, beyond talking about the Tea Party.

Liberals across the country will be pouring money into Conway's campaign, the DailyKos liberals are very excited, and we cannot, CANNOT, slack off.

The way that Conway speaks reminds me very much of Obama and Scott Brown as candidates. They gave hope to the people they spoke to, they were very passionate speakers, their opponents were dull, they had to overcome tough odds, but in the end they won. We would all hate to see Conway win this, but it is absolutely possible.

Conway is our biggest enemy now, and as a result he is one of the biggest enemies of liberty. We need to defeat him.

    True.

They want to paint Rand as far right, cause they are deathly afraid of him capturing the middle and a chunk of the left with his libertarian side. Rand, however, doesn't want to lose the cred he's building with the mainstream Republicans. I think he just acts like himself and wins in a landslide, assuming the grassroots can neutralize the piss out of Conway. Remember, if the dirt isn't there, then something's wrong with your imagination. Like, for instance, would you trust Conway with your wife? Trick question, he's a pedophile. Okay, I'll stop that.

I will stop. But sir, do you think human beings are rational? The rational is merely a tool of the irrational.

I would not overestimate Rand Paul's "libertarian side". On social issues, he is not very libertarian at all, and it makes sense since KY is a socially conservative state. On foreign policy, Rand is definitely more hawkish than his father. On civil liberties, Rand is average. He is against the Patriot Act, against torture, but pro-Guantanamo. And I don't think Rand is reliable on opposing the Drug war.

Like they say, everyone has a projected image and plan until they get hit in the face. Yes, Conway seems calm, cool and collected, but Rand is real cagey and quick minded. In terms of in-depth policy arguments, I think Rand will expose him:

Okay, do what you want. It's called open source opp research. We are a collective hive that cooks up the most bulletproof, watertight characterizations of our opponents, and it takes all kinds to have a village, Hillary Clinton said that.

My message from the dark fringes of the subconscious is this, utility lobbying whatever is boring and didn't work. Reach into the depths of your primal fears about Jack Conway. Reach into the primal depths of your animal subconscious. That's how you win.

Yes, watch those old tapes of Barry Goldwater. He was attacked in the same manner for similar votes. Separate the wheat from the chaff. Flesh out your argument and your reasoning behind not agreeing with them. It's not the spirit of these laws which are repulsive, but rather particular provisions found within these bills which run in opposition to the principles which the constitution was founded upon. I'd go in guns blazing, instead of letting the media define me as some sort of demagogue.

This Conway guy is far too slick...the same charisma that will win over way too many voters is giving me a "this man is evil" vibe.

I need an education in US history, from the ground up. Can you help point me to a comprehensive, unbiased, scholarly resource?

Barry Goldwater suffered a devastating defeat in 1964, so I don't think he should be used as the example.

Whether or not you like it, people will be appalled by Rand Paul opposing the Disabilities Act and Civil Rights Act, and Rand will URGENTLY NEED to find a way to RESPOND to such attacks to avoid defeat. You may understand the reason he opposes those acts, and I do as well, but average voters do not.

But he's cloaked himself in progressivism in the state of Kentucky! All Rand has to do is continuously poke him. Peel off the layers of Mr. Slick.
