admittedly tennessee libertarians are most thoroughly libertarian, even though we bay staters can proudly authoritatively and happily say that the LIBERTARIAN PARTY in its infancy began up here in 1971.

Ironic, considering that the problem with the Libertarian Party is that they think most Nolan Chart quadrant libertarians are not libertarian enough.

If the most harmful thing they do is herd cats, they are my favorite political party. All other political parties are busy promoting theft and violence, but at least there winners! I'll compromise my principles all day long, but I will not tolerate people who cannot get sheepish Americans to vote for them.

Eh, if they are from Tennessee they can't be fully trusted.

I think the point was that while LP activists distract themselves by herding cats, the neocons and the socialists destroy the country.

And not one LP member elected to a Federal Seat. Perhaps a State Seat?

Even if that were true, they would still be the least destructive, and therefor, my favorite political party.

Though I think his point might have been that the LP is worthless so we should use other vehicles to further our agenda. I say, if only all political parties were so worthless!

Probably a body intended to make sure that everyone has water in a state where everyone's daily activity historically revolves around the act of trying to keep water out of your belongings.

No matter what it is, it's not the type of place you'd expect to see a libertarian running for.

Libertarians should be running for City Councils and County Boards. Then move up to Mayor.

AGREED! Libertarians need to build local networks and gain experience in realistic races. If the LP concentrated on winning local seats for the next decade or so, they'd have an army of people with the local credibility and experience to run for House, Senate, or Gov in 2020 and beyond. It's all about building the house from the foundation up, rather than the current LP strategy of building the house from the roof down.

So Libertarians want to narrow thier base even further...always a wise political strategy...

"Political campaigns that are not trying to win are frauds on the voting public. The public has the right to assume that a candidate on the ballot is serious about serving in office, qualified to do so, and competitive with the other candidate(s). Using political campaigns to “educate” people is a waste of time and distracts the voters from the viable options and political reality. "

This movement should take that to heart. Extremely good articles. Are there really 47 LP office holders in Pennsylvania?

    You miss the point.

I am assuming that "water board" has something to do with public utilities. If it was an environmental board, it would likely be called that.

This position is in a state where one does not need the government to apportion water. It is in a state where you can get water by waving a towel around in the air and then wringing it out.

What true libertarian is going to seek a position that would be totally unnecessary within a year if the free market was simply allowed to operate? The only possible reason for there to be a shortage of water in Louisiana is because the government controls the supply.

I see your point about other boards, like board of supervisors or zoning or something less hypocritical. But some of these positions are just ridiculous positions and inherently too anti-libertarian for libertarians to consider filling.

what better way to dissolve a water board than to elect people who want to abolish it and at the very least keep an eye on those who want to lord over you.
the guy that was elected wanted to be on the board to keep them from messing with people.

Why? If anything, the most ridiculous positions are the BEST ones for libertarians to fill. If you can't destroy the beast, the next best thing is to be in the saddle.

This isn't just libertarians in Tennessee. Many state LPs are moving against the fees. I think its a bit of a distracting debate, but oh well.
