Thread: We need YOU to serve as precinct captain

Default We need YOU to serve as precinct captain

We have over 4,000 precincts in MN, and we need a precinct captain for each. That's a tall order, but as they say, all politics are local. We have to communicate with each captain before the caucus on Feb 5, and have the captains report back to the campaign with which Ron Paul delegates were elected up to the next level.

If you are willing to serve in this capacity, please PM me with your email address.

We are going to send Ron Paul delegates to the National Convention in September, where we hope to win Ron Paul the nomination. The question is just how many. Your role as precinct captain is CRITICAL to this.

Does anyone know how this works in other states, Tennessee for example?

Matt, TN is a primary state, so the role of precinct captain isn't as crucial. If the campaign has appointed someone to head up your state, they will have a specific strategy.

Primary states are so much easier, IMHO.

Easier, but less room for manipulation, for smoke-filled room tactics. Much more intrigue in caucus states.

If many of us have never been involved in caucuses, how do we avoid the manipulation that is certain to happen?

I'm afraid the old party members who are opposed to Ron will be able to exclude us somehow.

So...what exactly are we supposed to do when we get to the caucus? I'm sure some of the old party members will laugh at questions like this, as if we don't have a right to engage in the democratic process.

What should we watch for? Do they run the proceedings with Robert's Rules of Order? I think everyone should be informed of how this procedure works.
