- The naive attitude of too many RPF membersI ignore the fact that RP's take back the GOP strategy is working. I ignore the fact that RP accomplished more from his 2008 GOP run than he ever has before. I ignore the fact that 3rd party candidates lose and are a joke to voters. I ignore all this b/c I have an arousing fantasy where RP runs 3rd party in 2012, magically polls at 15%, magically is allowed in the debates, and then magically wins the election. Trust me, it'll work this time.
Wasn't Shadegg one of the better republicans?
Shadegg was better than 88% of House members but that is a pretty low standard.
Shadegg was no Libertarian. I'm so glad he's retiring. The first time the bailout came up in the house (when it was voted down) Shadegg voted No. That week he ran radio ads about how his strong leadership and why voting no on the bailout was good for Arizonans. The next friday he voted YES on the bailout, and the radio ad was still airing the afternoon after he voted YES on the bailout. It was ridiculous, and JD Hayworth even made a negative comment about Shadegg after the radio ad aired on his show the day of the vote.
We need to draft a Libertarian-leaning Republican to run for the seat NOW!

Shadegg isn't the worst Republican, but he's not anything special. He voted for the bailout and I think the patriot act too.

Does anyone who lives in the district know anyone who could run? As a libertarian-minded Republican of course....

Wasn't Shadegg one of the Gang of Seven that forced Newt Ginfrich out of the Speakership?
So far it looks like State Senator Pamela Gordon and State Representative Sam Crump will be running for Shadegg's seat in Congress. We need a liberty candidate...

Thank you for this heads up! I hadn't seen it until just now and am I happy!
Worth reposting - http://www.freedomsphoenix.com/News/...-u-s-house.htm
For the 'Arizona' perspective, I wish to bring up an often forgotten fact thread:
John Shadegg voted against the bailout the first time around. It failed.
In order for it to be re-introduced, someone who voted against it had to change their mind - and guess who that person was?
That's right - you guessed it - the man behind the screen John Shadegg re-introduced the bailout bill, it passed, and OUR MONEY WAS HISTORY!
Feel free to pass that one around.
