Thread: Educate the masses, chain mail.

    Educate the masses, chain mail.

My idea is to create a chain mail that we essentially mail to everyone we know, and instruct them to mail it to everyone they know. Here's what I have so far.

Top 20 things most Americans don’t know.

    1. The Federal Reserve is a private institution, owned by a secret society of extremely wealthy bankers. They print the money and charge the people interest on that money, and the majority of the Income tax paid by the people is actually used primarily to pay back this interest. Don’t believe me, look it up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Reserve_System

    2. In order to pay for policing of the world, and ever increasing aid to Israel the USA has borrowed over $1 trillion from the Chinese. Don’t believe me, look it up. http://www.finalcall.com/artman/publ...cle_3843.shtml

    3. The current national debt is approaching $10 trillion, don’t worry though, this debt will be passed onto the next generation. Don’t believe me, look it up. http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/

    4. US interventions in the Middle East have already cost taxpayers $2 trillion, and most politicians expect us to be there for many more years to come. Don’t believe me, look it up. http://www.milkeninstitute.org/publi.../76_83mr32.pdf

    5. The Patriot Act hasn’t helped fight terrorism, it’s taken away basic liberties. This act allows the government to label you an enemy combatant and detain you indefinitely without the right to habeas corpus. It also allows for warrant less search and seizure, email, phone and wire tapping, and a clause for emergency martial law. Don’t believe me, look it up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USA_PAT...ct%2C_Title_II

    6. The Government has decided that the country needs to add government controlled surveillance cameras to many major metropolitan cities across the US. The excuse they have provided is that these cameras will prevent suicide terrorism. These systems will cost taxpayers billions, yet I assure you this will not prevent suicide terrorism. Don’t believe me, well think about it…..

    7. The Income Tax is in effect completely unconstitutional, the founders never intended there to be such a tax and this tax did not exist until 1913. Don’t believe me, look it up. http://www.constitutionalincome.com/

    8. After the US invaded and took over Afghanistan toppling the Taliban, Opium production skyrocketed. This has allowed for a resurgence of Heroin and it’s now massive supply has dropped the cost so much so that many lower income children can now afford it in the form of “cheese”. 100’s of American children have died from this epidemic. Don’t believe me, look it up. http://www.usatoday.com/news/washing...an-opium_x.htm

    9. On August 6, 2001 President Bush and his staff were given a memo from the Intelligence agencies of the United States. The memo was titled “Bin Laden determined to attack in the US”, the memo outlined that there was significant evidence of possible terrorist attack on Washington and New York. After Condoleeza Rice, Dick Cheney and Paul Wolfowitz along with the President discussed the issue, they decided no action should be taken. Don’t believe me, look it up. http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/04/10/august6.memo/

    10. In America welfare programs aren’t there to truly help the poor, they are mainly used to make sure the unwanted are kept in their place and under control. Don’t believe me, look it up. http://www.mises.org/efandi/ch12.asp

    11. Inflation is a tax on the poor and middle class, and the dollar is eroding it’s value at around 9% a year not the 3% the Federal Reserve reports. This is mostly due to the fact that the current GDP can’t afford annual Federal expenditure in excess of $3 trillion. Products don’t get more expensive, the market demands they get cheaper, but the dollar loses it’s value. Don’t believe me, look it up. http://www.econlib.org/library/Enc/Inflation.html

    12. The majority of all the media we currently have access to with the exception of the internet is owned and controlled by major corporations. You might find it interesting that they seem to control who wins or loses elections. Don’t believe me, look it up. http://www.fair.org/index.php?page=1406

    13. Politicians and corporations pit a 2 party system against each other to confuse the common public on issues that really make no difference in helping the common man. Liberals and Conservatives for the most part are bought and paid for and they continually quarrel over moral issues that have nothing to do with the current issues regarding currency, war, or civil rights. Don’t believe me, look it up. http://www.peroutka2004.com/schedule...w&event_id=443

    14. So called free trade organizations (WTO, NAFTA, CAFTA) are anything but. Don’t believe me, look it up. http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0321-31.htm

    15. Iraq not only had no weapons of mass destruction is also had absolutely no links to Al Queda, and was also meeting with UN demands. Don’t believe me, look it up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_War

    16. The US and it’s allies have either directly or indirectly killed millions of Iraqi’s through either sanctions or direct assault. Also the majority of those have been women and children. Don’t believe me, look it up. http://www.reason.com/news/show/28346.html

    17. Americans actually pay around 21% of their income to the income tax, yet few realize that while this is a large portion of taxation, it only makes up about half of what we pay in taxes. Don’t forget State and Local taxes, gas taxes, permit fees, etc. Don’t believe me, get a job and start working you’ll figure it out yourself.

    18. Lobbyist control what a big spending government does, they do it via large and wealthy groups and there are none larger than AIPAC. Scary stuff sure, but don’t worry they only want what’s in your back pocket unless you don’t feel like paying. (Oh and maybe they also want domination of the middle east, sure seems like it at least) Don’t believe me, look it up.

    19. Eisenhower warned us of the Military industrial complex, looking around at the world of today I’d have to say we flat out ignored him. Don’t believe me, you’re nuts…..

    20. Sometimes we as Americans must wake up and fix the problems associated with our system of government ourselves. I hope you read this and now you want to do something about it, before it gets any worse than it already is. Now is no time for apathy, it’s also no time to allow anyone else to make your decision regarding what candidate maybe right for office. I advise all Americans to rise up and find a candidate that knows the real issues affecting our great nation. Keep in mind that the media will label them as 2nd tier, longshots, or just plain kooky, when you find the candidate the media and the establishment doesn’t like, then that’s probably the people’s candidate. Don’t believe me, well then all hope is lost.

    Good idea!

And don't forget to educate the media, as well! :-)

Did you read my statements? You think this is how is should read?

  5. #4
Hmm... I think it's a little too "extreme" for most folks. I personally would prefer an informative piece that was unbiased in its presentation. Let the people draw conclusions themselves; this way, THEY own the conclusion instead of someone "forcing" it on them.

The wording could be improved a bit (I know I should do this, but don't have the time right now); make it sound more official and less "guy-with-a-cause."

Though I usually hate chain letters, there are those who love them and if there's gonna be a chain letter, it may as well be in educating on Ron Paul's ideas.

No offense but chainmail is spam.

    Some things you have incorrect:

    4. The Military Commissions Act is what killed Habeas Corpus, not the Patriot Act.

    7. Article I, Section 8, clause 1 of the U.S. Constitution gives Congress a general power of taxation--i.e. income taxes are perfectly legal and always have been. What was unconstitutional about them was how they were enforced: direct taxes had to be apportioned by population; indirect taxes had to be uniform. Since there was no telling if an income tax would be ruled a direct or indirect tax by the courts and overturned if not enforced per the manner required for that type of tax, the 16th Amendment was passed to exempt it from that provision.

I think people read chain mail to be either shocked, saddened, or entertained. I'm going for the shock value, because otherwise it won't get read. Oh and chain mail is far from spam.

I like the idea of chain letters. All the chain letters I receive are from my parents and grandparents, and these are our weakest demographics.

Overall though, I think it needs to be shorter and more focused. It jumps around from one issue to the next without any continuity, and at times it gets offensive to the reader. I like how you provided links for most of the topics, but many people will not follow them, especially if it doesn't sound credible or it offends their beliefs.

I think people read chain mail to be either shocked, saddened, or entertained.
You have a better chance at evoking emotion by targeting a single issue and expanding on it. Instead of throwing mountains of new and dubious-sounding information at them, appeal to what they already know and use it to convince them.

Take taxes for example. Nobody likes taxes, but most see it as a necessary evil. They have lived with it all their lives and assume that our nation's survival depends on it. They don't need to be told that the IRS is evil and income tax is unconstitutional. What they need is evidence that these institutions are unnecessary. Use the fact that income tax only pays for 1/3 of the government, and that the government is 1/3 larger today than it was 8 years ago.

Conservatives already dislike welfare and liberals will be offended by your implication that it's designed to keep the poor down. Whether or not that is the net effect, most people have their hearts in the right place, they just don't understand the full ramifications of these kinds of programs. Tell them that we all want to help the poor, but government programs are having the opposite effect, and give evidence of that.

Agreed! People who chain mail are ruled by EMOTIONS. They pass on stuff that that makes them CRY, LAUGH, or SCARES THEM! If you are going for the latter effect, it must focus on one or two issues and slowly lead them into it but end with a bang.

I am already doing this in a way and people are free to copy this. At the top section I have a new and recent topic each time I send it out, with the same core message at the bottom. I only send it to people who have agreed to receive it. I started four months ago and have several hundred people on my distribution list, and many have indicated they are passing it on to their friends. I basically email it to myself and blind copy the distribution list so it does not appear spammy with so many people in the to: or cc: field. Again, I only send this to people who have agreed to receive it, it offers an option to opt out, and only two out of several hundred have asked to opt out. My basic text:

PUT YOUR SHORT NEW MESSAGE ABOUT RON PAUL HERE, such as a recent YouTube or link to fundraising gains, link to a good newspaper article, etc. I like to keep it short and sweet and positive. Then all messages are followed by the below (Many of which were at one time the top message) so new people on the distribution list can really learn about RP if they wish to go through it all.

If you know of anyone who might support Ron Paul's values as President, feel free to pass this email and the good word on!

*** If you do not wish to be included in this distribution list, just send a reply with "unsubscribe" in the title and you will be removed.

OTHER important Ron Paul info for those new to my distribution list:

The Ron Paul story - join the rEVOLution:

Most on my distribution list have seen the below "Don't Tread on Me" vid, which BEST tells the Ron Paul story. AWESOME vid, so pass it on to your friends!

Ron Paul voted for the funding to hunt down Osama bin Laden and his cohorts, but he voted against a invading Iraq. You decide:

    Ron Paul's Record ---

The war in Iraq: Ron Paul voted against it from the beginning, recognizing the folly of nation-building and unconstitutional police actions that masquerade as legitimate wars while showing the good judgment that initially eluded most of the top Democratic presidential contenders and each and every Republican presidential contender. Unlike every top Republican presidential contender, Ron Paul is now working to end it rather than extend it.

Government spending, debt, and taxes: If you're looking for a true fiscal conservative, look no further than Ron Paul. Most presidential candidates from both major parties call for new government programs, increased spending, and increased debt, even as they propose minuscule tax cuts or a gradual reduction in the budget deficit. Dr. Paul has consistently spoken and voted for reducing government spending, taxes, and debt, and has never voted for an unbalanced budget. It is time for our fiscal policy to be taken out of the hands of an ill-conceived war that has cost the American people hundreds of billions of tax dollars, greedy lobbyists representing exceptionally greedy big businesses that are in bed with politicians/government, excessive foreign aid, and wasteful U.S. government agencies so we can stop our ballooning budget and $9 trillion in debt that will bankrupt not only our government, but the future of our children and grandchildren.

Border Security and Immigration: Ron Paul believes a nation without secure borders is no nation at all. It makes no sense to fight terrorists abroad when the door at home is unlocked. We need to physically secure our borders and coastlines, enforce visas, no amnesty, no welfare for illegal aliens and end birthright citizenship. Current reform packages would still allow over 60 million illegal immigrants into our country, while costing taxpayers tens of billions of dollars in regards to the entitlements these illegal immigrants receive. Ron Paul believes those waiting in line legally should have their fair shot at the American dream.

Individual liberty: If you believe that government officials have the right to listen in on your phone calls, open your mail, monitor your financial transactions, view your medical records and track your Internet activity, Ron Paul is definitely not your candidate. He voted against the Patriot Act and against the Real ID Act. Dr. Paul will always defer to the fundamental American liberties enshrined in the Bill of Rights, rather than playing on false fears to increase government power and control.

Property Rights: Ron Paul believes property rights are the foundation of all rights in a free society and is against special interests and the government violating property rights and forcing American citizens from their homes, businesses, farms and ranches.

Personal integrity: If you're looking for a candidate who will end politics as usual, and has the record to prove it, consider the following from Ron Paul's presidential website, ronpaul2008.com:

Congressman Ron Paul is a graduate of Gettysburg College and Duke University Medical School. He was a Flight Surgeon in Vietnam and in private practice as an obstetrician he has delivered over 4,000 babies. He has been married for 50 years and has five children and 18 grandchildren - all while managing to fit in ten terms in Congress representing the 14th District in Texas.

Brief Overview of Congressman Paul's Record

He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.

He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.

Elections are never won through education of the masses.

Only type of education that can help a candidate in a real election is educating the masses about the candidate and the candidates stances on mainstream issues.

95% of the population not only does not understand the federal reserve, they rather not understand it!!

If educating people with truth was how elections are won, then the Libertarian party would be locked in for 08; But they are not. They are stuck in the background educating people about the FED, and the war on drugs.

Dont waste your time people, it will all be wasted resources.

Maytek, when you're inviting others to print out what you post, it helps if you tick the "Do not parse links in text" box first.

Also, I would not rely on any wikipedia information to remain constant and unmodified/accurate.

It can't be? They dont want to listen?

We, the people on this forum, the people that actually know stuff, and the people that are into politics (very broadly speaking) think ABSOLUTELY and COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than the average voter.

If I received a educational mailing, yes it would work. If all but one of my friends received a educational mailing, no they would be lost before they even opened it, if they even did open it.

Honestly it will take me all of 5 minutes to mail this to 25 people that I know. Considering how the letter is done, I don't see how I'm wasting so much time.

Well if you know the people then that changes it.

The friends I mentioned would not open a group of letters if it was from me personally.

I'd say attract their attention to RP's track record..

Start by asking.. would you rather have an honest man who you disagree with or dishonest person who looks like he agrees with you?

    State RPs traits:
he is a doctor who delivered 4000+ babies
    1) he is principled
    - he never took medicare money as a doctor
    - he never took lstudent loans for his children because they come from tax payer money
    2) integrity.
    - does not take pension,
    - voted no for congressional medals with tax money and offered own money to give those medals
    3) he is consistent
    - juxtapose interview from 88 on his positions and recent video (he says the same things even after 20 years)
    4) Honesty and courage - he always takes a principled position even if it is unpopular - put video of SC debate, iraq house speech
    5) he is an expert on economy, foreign policy, history

If you still beleive a honest, consistent, principled person is better... look him up..
