Does anybody know how to write and send a press release?

Does anybody know how to write and send a press release?

Or at least a letter to the editor, if we're not authorized to do the former.

We should have a short press release showing who Ron Paul raised $1.x million dollars in the seven days between Sept. 24 and Sept. 30 on the Internet, beating Edwards' drive in a shorter period of time than Edwards.

    I think that's a great idea.
I wouldn't mind writing a press release myself. Don't you think the campaign will do it?

If you know how to write one and send one, go do it. I recommend you show this forum a rough draft first and get feedback first before you send it out.

The release should not say it's from official headquarters, it should be from you and the Meetup group you are affiliated with who approves the release. Or if it is just you, make it a letter to the editor.

    Letters to the Editor

Letters to the Editor -- Link for templates; allows you to send to papers according to your zip code:

Tips for Writing a Letter to the Editor (from the GOP link)
    :

    * Include Your Contact Information. Most newspapers will only print a letter to the editor after calling the author to verify his or her identity and address. Newspapers will not give out that information, and will usually only print your name and city should your letter be published.

    * Be Clear and Concise: Keep your letters brief, concise, and to the point. Newspaper editors often edit for length, so try to keep your letter to less than 250 words.

    * State Your Point Early: Be sure to state your main point in the subject line and in the first sentence of the letter.

    * Keep to One Topic: Keep your letters focused on one subject.

PRNewsWire is where you can do press releases and have it show up on all major sites - https://prndirect.prnewswire.com/

They do it for free but the paid version is the best one because Yahoo will def pick it up. I remember they used to charge $200 something or less. Not sure but sign up and find out. It's well worth it when you pay because they will give the news article higher ranking, therefore Yahoo and other sites will pick it up. Free one works too.

I am not sure if there are separate laws for press releases that are related to politics.
