Weak dollar will force us to spend less/produce more?

I was wondering if the long term consequences of a very weak dollar would cause a shift from spending/consuming to producing more and more balanced trade? After a while I mean, not right away of course but over a period of time people would be forced to import less and produce more in America?

I'm just wondering, no one bite my head off!

considering we produce next to nothing, production has to increase.
