Exclamation Feinstein's reply to audit The Fed

    Here's the reply I got:

Thank you for contacting me to express support for legislation to increase transparency at the Federal Reserve. I appreciate your interest in monetary policy and welcome the opportunity to respond.

The Federal Reserve was originally established in response to the country's need for a sound and independent central bank to manage decisions relating to U.S. monetary policy. I understand your concern with some of the unprecedented steps that the Federal Reserve has taken recently to ease the flow of credit and stabilize financial markets.

Yeah we know when and how it was created

On March 16, 2009, Senator Bernard Sanders (I-VT) introduced the "Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009" (S. 604), which would require the U.S. Comptroller General to audit the Federal Reserve System before the end of 2010. This bill has been referred to the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee. Representative Ron Paul (R-TX) has introduced a similar bill (H.R. 1207) in the House of Representatives. Please know that I will keep your support for this legislation in mind should it come before the full Senate.

Great!, have any of these been put to a vote yet? taken to the floor?, or seriously considered?

While I recognize the importance of accountability in the operations of the Federal Reserve, I strongly believe that monetary decisions should be made independent of political influence or motives. You may be interested to learn that I supported an amendment to the Congressional Budget Resolution (S. Con. Res. 13) offered by Senator Sanders requiring the Federal Reserve to disclose how it has disbursed emergency economic assistance to financial institutions during this severe economic crisis. Be assured that I am carefully monitoring the actions taken by the Federal Reserve to help stimulate our economy and unfreeze credit for businesses and homeowners.

So, your in favor of a privately owned and operated banking cartel in charge of the public's money? Second, what about all the other funds disbursed to institutions other than fininacial ones?

Once again, thank you for writing. I hope that you will continue to share your views with me. If I can be of any further assistance, please contact my Washington, D.C. office at (202) 224-3841. Best regards.

    Once again, I am dissappointed...

    Sincerely yours,

    Dianne Feinstein
    United States Senator

I love how representation works today. Have someone write my copy & paste response for me. Have someone check all of my email and answer my phone calls. Have someone copy & paste my copy & paste response, send the email, and collect the paycheck.

This is utter and complete bullshit.

During the first bailout, Feinstein said that she got something like 90,000 phone calls opposing the bailout. And she still voted for it.
Maxed out to ALL of Ron Paul's campaigns.

The Federal Reserve as an independent central bank is tasked and in charge of providing stability to our dollar as well as financial markets, neither of which has been accomplished. Since it's inception our dollar has weakened and our economy has experienced many volatile fluctuations in the markets. This is proof indeed that The Federal Reserve is unable to manage or stabilize an economy or bring value to our currency. History speaks for itself, as the purchasing power of the dollar has fallen since 1913. Easing the flow of credit is what got this country into this problem. Spending more money with historically low interest rates is the same formula which put us where we are now. We are spending money we don't have, and have to borrow (at interest) from an independent central bank. Who owns The Fed?

I am calling for a FULL AUDIT by The Congress acting for the interest of We The People not the U.S. Comptroller General. We have the right to know how and where the public’s money is being spent. More importantly what assets have We The People handed over to The Federal Reserve as collateral for the 787 billion dollar loan (a.k.a. the stimulus) which passed both houses without being read. Have we handed over title to The Golden Gate Bridge?

Interesting, “monetary decisions should be made independent of political influence or motives” Such as letting the public (We The People are The Government) know exactly what power and authority it has over our monetary system? That certainly is a motive. You mean, such as having sound money? That certainly is a motive. Knowing full well what The Federal Reserve holds as collateral and assets? That certainly is a motive. No wonder neither The Congress, The Senate, or The People know what’s up!

Once again, thank you for writing. I hope that you will continue to share your views with me. If I can be of any further assistance, please contact my Washington, D.C. office at (202) 224-3841. Best regards.
