    A Message from Peter Schiff

    Dear xxxxxx,

I just wanted to let you know that I am now able to take online donations on my website www.schiffforsenate.com.

My decision to run is largely dependent on the level of early support and contributions I receive from people like you. I have commissioned polling that shows this to be a winnable race and I am ready to make the personal and financial sacrifice to run, but now it's up to the people to show their support because no candidate can win this race alone. Over the next several weeks we will be taking contributions at my website www.schiffforsenate.com, and weighing the public support for my candidacy. If the support is there, I will answer the call. However, if the public sentiment for my run is not there, I will return the contributions.

Free-market conservatives have an opportunity in 2010. With your help and support, I believe this will be our generation's chance to make a difference for ourselves and our children. Join me. Show your support for free market principles by making a contribution on my website www.schiffforsenate.com.

It's time we made ourselves heard.

    Best regards,

    Peter

I don't see fund raising as a problem for Schiff, but rather a lack of support in Conn. Remember he is running in a primary against neo-cons, much like the crowd of neo-cons who "booed" libertarian speakers at the Hartford Tea Party. Nationally we'll be able to raise him a big chunk of change, but will he be able to win a primary against neo-cons? If he does I think he has a better chance to beat Dodd than any of the neo-cons.

All he has to do is talk about the economy 99% of the time.

It's a primary against neo-cons, all of them will gang up on him and paint him as an "anti-war commie pinko" and the flag waving crowd will turn on him immediately, at that point there will be nothing he can say to turn it around. The ONLY chance he has against them is if he broaches the foreign policy topic first, and gets his message out before the rest get a chance to spin it.

They will all be talking about the economy, and the others will be using platitude and attacks attuned to the lowest common denominator.

Haha, something always bothered me about Schiff's appearance, but I could never quite put my finger on it. I think I figured it out:

He looks too much like Bill Kristol:
