Thread: Where Do We Draw The Line?

    Question Where Do We Draw The Line?

    And I don't mean to rise up and revolt because I do not advocate any form of violence. I'm talking about leaving the country. I've been thinking about this a lot lately, especially today with the Cap and Trade bill.

    Think about this:

    1. The central government, through income tax, sales tax, property tax, cap and trade, soon universal healthcare, and especially the coming inflation, etc., is taking well over half the country's wealth.

    2. Obama wants to start preventative detention. There is no-fly list and they want to stop the one million+ people on that list from buying guns. They also want to be able arrest these people and hold them indefinitely without a trial or any evidence. And they basically can, already.

    3. They are spying on all of our posts, emails, searches, etc.

    I feel like I "woke up" a year ago to the problems in this country, and now I'm waking up again and realizing that we are already almost living in Orwell's novel, "1984." When will they stop? How far will it go? History shows that governments like this do not stop. At what point will people who oppose government policies start "disappearing"?

    And back to the original question: "Where do we draw the line?" Is it time to leave the country? I realize places like New Zealand or Australia are pretty socialist as well, but I fear there are some insidious plans for this country in particular.

    Why should we disappear? Why should we leave? This is OUR country.

    History is replete with examples of people fleeing adversity temporarily in order to regroup and reengage. Nobody LIKES to do it, but sometimes political oppression demands that victims operate outside national jurisdiction. *

    * Increasingly difficult, yes

    By disappear, I'm talking about the govt. "disappearing" those who oppose them. Is it not wise to flee to safety before the $#@! goes down. I'm beginning to wonder if this is what it felt to live in Germany before the Nazis really went nuts.

    I think a 3rd world project would be good. In the same way they have China towns we could have an American town.

    When I have the means, I will be looking into someplace abroad. (someplace more capitalist and free)

    Is there a way, as a natural born citizen, to opt out of citizenship if I wanted to be a citizen of, say, Switzerland? Just curious, because I think we owe it to our kids and the following generations to fight for liberty. America is too precious to let it rot in the hands of the state. By fight I do not mean violence, but passive non-resistance in the spirit of Gandhi and MLK.

    Flee to regroup, not hide.

    I'd certainly say it has given our betrayal of Chiang Kai-Shek's army.
